Vayne Pros and Cons in League of Legends Season 14
Pros:
- Bot Lane: On-hit Vayne is a hyper-carry who can take over teamfights once she gets going. With the right support duo, she can be very hard to pin down, and with the true damage she comes with, Vayne can shred through tanks. She is also versatile enough to champion a crit build.
- Top Lane: Vayne usually counters most top lane tanks in Riot’s MOBA. She is a menace to deal with because of her range and true damage, and will usually push in the lane allowing her access to early tower plates and a lead that she can snowball from. Vayne is also a menace in the side lanes, split pushing with her will often make the enemy team invest resources in dealing with her.
Cons:
- Bot Lane: Vayne has a very weak early game where she is often countered by ADCs that have more range than her. Aggressive supports like Lux and Brand can also make it difficult for her to get farm, so she often has to rely on CSing under the tower. Her lack of wave-clear prowess also makes it difficult for her to stop an enemy siege.
- Top Lane: Vayne is very weak to hard CC and her squishy nature makes her easy to gank and kill in the Top Lane. If the jungler and top laner come with a lot of hard CC she will have a hard time getting early leads.
How to play Vayne: Tips and Tricks for League of Legends Season 14
Early Game:
- Bot Lane: Vayne’s early game in the Bot Lane will all be about staying relevant in farm. She is often put ranged by most traditional ADCs which makes it quite difficult for her to have an advantage in lane. So keep up with your creep score and learn to farm under the turret so that you can reach your item power spikes early.
- Top Lane: Vayne is usually a lane bully against most tank Top Laners. The true damage on her W lets her have a relatively easier time in lane, however, she is susceptible to ganks. If the enemy jungler has a hard CC that can lock you down, you will need to be extra careful of their pathing when pushing the lane. As she will usually gain an early advantage in the Top Lane, look to help your jungler secure the Voidgrubs.
Mid Game:
- Bot Lane: Once you start hitting your power spikes rotate to the mid lane so that you can help your team contest for the neutral objectives. The goal will be to secure the Rift Herald, Drake, and the first Baron spawn, so be sure to be prepared for a teamfight. Don’t be afraid to peel for your team. Vayne’s W is a tank killer, and you will be able to shred through the enemy front line in a matter of seconds
- Top Lane: Top Lane Vayne is a bit tankier than her Bot Lane counterpart. - Bot Lane: The Late Game is when Vayne becomes a hyper carry shredding through the entire enemy team. But positioning is key as the enemy team will most likely look to focus their engage on her. If you have an Enchanter Support as a duo, you might want to stick with them instead of going off on your own to look for fights. While she will win out on most 1v1 duels, her lack of vision can give the enemy team the opportunity to collapse on her. It’s best to stick with your team and kite around teamfights.
- Top Lane: While you can stick to with your team and look for fights, as a Top Lane Vayne the best course of action in the Late Game will be to remain in the side lanes and push for tower damage. With the Demolish rune, Vayne can melt through towers, and if she remains unchecked she can take out the Inhibitor as well as a Nexus Tower, or even end the game in one single push.
