League of Legends Season 3 highlights- Doom Bots, WASD, Xin Zhao improvements, and more

League of Legends Season 3 will go live on August 27 in Patch 25.17. This major update will feature a lot of exciting things that the community can look forward to.

From a much needed visual update for Xin Zhao to the return of an old-school game mode, the final League of Legends season in 2025 is guaranteed to be a fun one.

Doom Bots returns to LoL after 9 years

The biggest highlight of League of Legends Season 3 is the return of the Doom Bots game mode. The last time it was available for play was all the way back in 2016.

The new version will feature Veigar as the big bad. This edition will feature new champions, curses, and objectives that should pose as major challenges for all players to enjoy.

Xin Zhao gets a VGU

Xin Zhao is one of the oldest champions in the game in terms of release date. After many years, he will receive a much-needed visual update to his base design and all of his skins. He will also receive a new Epic skin.

WASD keys for movement to be introduced in PBE

WASD keys will be tested for movement in the Public Beta Environment (PBE). The mechanic will be initially introduced in non-ranked queues before arriving in ranked.

Point-and-click movement will still be available for players to use. However, WASD will offer more comfort for players that are used to these keys for movement in other games.

T1 Worlds 2024 skins set to arrive

T1’s triumph at Worlds 2024 meant that they were set to receive another set of skins to commemorate their success. These skins will be available for purchase in Patch 25.17.

The champions that will receive skins and the players corresponding to them are:

  • Zeus: Gnar
  • Oner: Vi
  • Faker: Yone and Sylas (Prestige)
  • Gumayusi: Varus
  • Keria: Pyke

Other notable headliners

Riot have also announced more strict measures will be put in place to prevent smurfing, an issue that has plagued League of Legends for a long time. Riot will also target bot accounts as well as accounts that have been sold and shared for the purpose of boosting.

Accounts that have been caught will mean that all parties involved with a particular account receive punishment.

Apart from the T1 Worlds 2024 skins, Machine Herald Viktor will make his way onto the Rift in Patch 25.19 and will be free for players that have a Mastery Level higher than 5 on Viktor as of August 4th.

Prestige skins for Mel and Sylas will be introduced in the Mythic Shop. Jarvan IV and Zoe’s prestige skins will be a part of the Act 1 and 2 battle passes, respectively.
