Red Dead Redemption 2 Enhanced for Next Gen Consoles Might Actually Be a Thing

Red Dead Redemption 2 is a title that, despite being a game from the last generation, still holds up visually and technically on modern-gen consoles. But we live in times when remasters are frequent and abundant, even for titles that are just a few years old.

A modern version of Red Dead Redemption 2 with enhancements has long since been rumored. This time around, we might be reaching some solid evidence from industry leakers. User @kiwitalkz on the Twitter/X social media platform has dropped a hint.

It might be realistic to think that Rockstar Games probably have their hands tied with the finalization of development around Grand Theft Auto 6. Which, no doubt, is going to be one of the biggest video game releases in this decade.

New Details of the Red Dead 2 Enhanced

According to his claims, he is sure that at least eight of the rockstar developers worked on an enhanced edition for Red Dead 2 that has not been revealed yet. The said leaker also guesses that “maybe GTA 6 dev timelines changed the release schedule for everything.”

The post ends with the leaker claiming that he isn’t sure about the broader details, but the next-gen re-release will definitely come at some point. In a newer post, he also further talked about his personal expected release window for the game.

He thinks that we are probably not going to see the game until late 2027, and there are some reasonable explanations for this. Firstly, once GTA 6 is out, Rockstar will want all eyes on that game instead of a new release.

Secondly, there’s also the fact that the first Red Dead Redemption just got a remastered release for current-gen platforms, so it is still fresh on everyone’s minds. Rockstar wouldn’t want to cannibalise the sales with another remastered Red Dead game this early.

The constant rumors does line-up with the claims that the schedule for a next gen Red Dead 2 remastered might have been pushed. The GTA 6 delays do give weight to that, but whatever may be, one thing is for certain, which is that we are not going to see this so-called enhanced edition any time soon.
