Crafting is one of the core gameplay features that will help you with progression in RuneScape Dragonwilds. The system will help you create advanced items like Runes and Food recipes, which will go a long way in helping you have an easier time in Ashenfall.
However, the crafting system can be a tad bit complicated for those who are new to the RPG. There are a few nuances to the feature, and to get your crafting going, the first thing you will need to do is unlock a crafting table first.
So if you are looking to make the most of the system in the title, then the guide below will help you out.
How to unlock crafting in RuneScape Dragonwilds
To start crafting in RuneScape Dragonwilds, the first thing that you will need to do is to unlock the basic Crafting Tables. To do this, you will need to talk to the Wise Old Man NPC and then start the quest that unlocks the system.
Then you will need to talk to three other NPCs on the map, which will then reward you with the most basic recipes for the following:
- Crafting Table
- Campfire
- Rune Altar
Each of the three will let you make a specific type of item in the game.
How to craft Armor and Weapons in RuneScape Dragonwilds
In order to make armor and weapons in RuneScape Dragonwilds, you will need to use the Crafting Table. You can make the most basic table by using 4x Ash Logs.
The Crafting Table unlocks after you talk to Doric, who can be found just outside the first spawn location. You will need to bring him some Ash Logs as a part of the quest, and once that’s done, you will unlock the method to make the table and use it to craft basic gear that includes rudimentary Clubs, Axes, and more.
Apart from Crafting Tables, you will also be able to make Crafting Stations, which are portable in nature, allowing you to carry them as you explore the map.

How to make Food in RuneScape Dragonwilds
To unlock food making, you will need to talk to Vannaka, who can be found to the north of Doric. He, too, will be a part of the Wise Old Man NPC’s questline and will task you with hunting Giant Rats in the Mill, which is up the hill. After hunting the rats, you will need to make 3x Rat Roast.
In order to cook a Rat Roast, you will need to make a Campfire first. You will need 4x Stone and 4x Ash Log for it, and once it’s built, interact with the Campfire and drag the raw ingredients into the top slot, then in the middle slot insert Ash Logs as fuel.
Once you have done this correctly, you will be able to get your hands on some Rat Roast.
How to craft Runes in RuneScape Dragonwilds
In order to make Runes in RuneScape Dragonwilds, you will first need to unlock the Rune Altar. You can do this by finding Zanik and then bringing her 50 Ash Logs.
After this, you will receive the recipe for the Rune Altar along with a Pickaxe that you will need to extract Runic Essence. You farm the Essence from the Rune Geisers that are found all over the map.
Crafting a Rune Altar takes 12x Stone and 4x Rune Essence. Once it’s made, you will be able to use it to make the most basic of Runes, like the Air and Fire Runes. These are then used as ammo for Magic Weapons. Runes are the foundation of magic in the game, which is why you will always want to carry a fair chunk of them along with you at all times.
Runes can also be used as a component for other resource-gathering abilities, which include Rockplosion and Axtral Projection. So you will want to make the most of the Rune Altar as you keep exploring the map in RuneScape Dragonwilds.
Note: Once you have collected Flax, Zanik will help you unlock the Spinning Wheel. You will unlock more benches and crafting tables as you progress through the game while gaining th ability to upgrade the ones that you have already made. This will allow you to start making higher-tier weapons, armor, and runes.
