Lucifer is the final boss encounter in the majority of the endings in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance. If you are going down the Law route in Canon of Vengeance then you will face him after Tehom. However, if you are going down the Chaos route, then you will face the Morning Star after Mastema.
Of the three final boss fights that you face in Canon of Vengeance, Lucifer is one of the more manageable fights. He is significantly easier than Tiamat, but he does come with his fair share of challenges.
What does make the fight a bit more challenging is Lucifer’s innate resistances. He blocks all elements except Dark, absorbs Light, and resists Phys. This makes the fight significantly more challenging if you do not have proper Almighty and Dark skills on the team.
Fortunately, he does come with a Fire and Ice Falling Star mechanic which will give you a brief moment to deal a ton of damage to him.
So if you are struggling with the final boss encounter in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance, here is a guide to that can make the Lucifer fight significantly easier.

How to beat Lucifer in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance
1) Have proper Almighty and Dark skills on the team
As Lucifer will either resist, block, or drain most of your attacks, you will need to focus on having good Almighty and Dark skills on your team. This is where demons like Sandalpon, Metatron, and Vishnu come in.
Even if you are at a much lower level than them, you will be able to fuse these demons after beating Tiamat. This is because you unlock the Rank Violation Miracle which lets you fuse demons that are above your level.
Equipping your Nahobino with Heavenly Ikuyumi also works.

2) Exploit Lucifer’s Falling Star
During his Falling Star attack, Lucifer will either summon a big ball of Fire or Ice, or sometimes even both. When he conjures them he becomes weak to the element that he pulled out. So if it’s a Fire ball, Lucifer will be weak to all Agi spells.
You can exploit this but do keep in mind that when it’s his turn, Lucifer will throw that ball at you. It can one-shot any team member and you will not be able to block this attack as it has a Pierce effect.
So while dealing damage to him, you will need to destroy the ball as well. However, once the ball is destroyed, Lucifer will regain his normal affinity stats.
3) Have good buffers and debuffers on the team
Lucifer’s Cold Dark Matter will let him gain Defense. You will need to constantly debuff him will skills like Debilitate while buffing your team with Luster Candy. As he comes with almost all elemental attack types it’s difficult to have an active party that can resist them.
So with Luster Candy, you can help your team gain high defense and evasion stats to survive most of his moves even after her uses Omagatoki: Critical.
Best demons for beating Lucifer in Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance

By this time in the game, the demons you have in your party should revolve around the type of playstyle that you are aiming for. Party balance is key when it comes to mastering the fight, and while there is nothing called “best demons” for this encounter, here are a few demons that we used to beat Lucifer:
- Best Support: Na’amah, Cleopatra, Lilith, Nuwa
- Best Healer: Agrat
- Best Damage: Nahobino, Amon, Vishnu, and Metatron
However, do keep in mind that when using Na’amah and Cleopatra do not use Frolic and Capitulate to Pleasure. Lucifer Blocks all status ailments, and you will be wasting your press turns.
Once you beat Lucifer you will have successfully completed one of the major story routes in Atlus‘ RPG.
