It seems the Star Wars Outlaws early-access launch for the gold edition and ultimate edition pre-orders aren’t going exactly as smooth sailing as expected. While the latest action-adventure game by Ubisoft is doing reasonably well in reception from critics and gamers alike (read our review), it has had its fair share of bugs, and Ubisoft has been promptly fixing the game and updating it.
Unfortunately, one of the updates might become a bane for every gold and ultimate edition owner if the latest claims are any indication.
Multiple Star Wars Outlaws early-access players on PlayStation 5 have reportedly received an email from Ubisoft. It asks players to restart the entire story from scratch, as the existing save will block their progress.
The root cause of the problem stems from a version mismatch of the current Star Wars Outlaws early-access build. As per the screenshot shared by Reddit user u/JACOAE, Ubisoft recommends players to be on version 1.000.002, and anything before that will result in progression blockers and problems.
A YouTuber named Philminator also shared a screenshot of an email received from Ubisoft, where the publisher shared the same message. As of now, this problem seems to be isolated only to the PlayStation 5 version of Star Wars Outlaws in the early-access period, and Xbox Series and PC version players haven’t echoed any similar problems.
This raises a slight concern over whether the actual launch will cause issues between the current build and save-file. I’ve already spent considerable time progressing through the game, and the thought of restarting from scratch is dreadful. I feel most players also echo a similar thought. After all, this is a rather vast experience, and redoing everything from scratch does sound frustrating.
Hopefully, the 30th August launch will be as smooth sailing as flying the Trailblazer in-game.
