It’s one of the more annoying bugs in the shooter and it seems to have been a recurring problem for many in the community.
Fortunately, there are a few things that you can do to solve it. Here is a guide on how you will be able to fix the “Anti Cheat not installed” error in The First Descendant.
How to fix The First Descendant “Anti Cheat not installed” error
Here are a few things that you can do to fix the “Anti Cheat not installed” error in The First Descendant:
1) Add Easy Anti Cheat to your Windows Firewall
Easy Anti Cheat is an application that installs with The First Descendant and it catches those who might be using unfair means to get ahead in the shooter. So if the game is not detecting the program on your system during launch, then it’s likely that your Windows Firewall is blocking it.
To solve this issue you will need to add Easy Anti Cheat to the exceptions list of your Firewall. You can do this by:
- Make your way to the Virus & Threat Protection in Windows Security and then head to the Ransomware Protection menu.
- Here, click on “Allow an app through Controlled folder access” and then click on “Add an allowed app”. Here browse through the pop-up and then head to the game’s folder.
- Once in look for TheFirstDescendant.exe. Click on it and then select Open.
- Next, click on “Add an allowed app” again, head to the games folder once more, and then click on EACLaunch.exe. Open it, to add it to the firewall exception.
- You will need to repeat the process a final time, but this time you will need to go to the following folder directory: M1->Binaries->Win64. Look for the M1-Win64-Shipping.exe, Open it to add it to the Windows Firewall.
Once done, you will not be having any firewall-related issues with The First Descendant.
2) Reinstall the Easy Anti Cheat
If it’s not a firewall issue, then you might have to completely re-install the anti-cheat software from scratch. To do this, you will need to:
- Make your way to the Steam subfolder for the game. You should be able to find it in the following directory: Steamapps/common/The First Descendant.
- Once you are in the directory look for the Easy Anti Cheat folder. You will find the Easy Anti Cheat Uninstall file. Use it to remove the engine from your system.
- Now look for the EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup file in the same directory, right-click on it, and hit Run as Administrator.
- Now follow the given steps and then reinstall the anti-cheat.
3) Reinstall The First Descendant
While it might seem like a rather drastic step to take, many in the community have stated that reinstalling the game from scratch has helped deal with multiple performance issues. So if you the above steps have not worked for you, you might try reinstalling the game via Steam to see if it solves it.
4) Scan and fix files
The “Anti Cheat not installed” error can occur in The First Descendant if there are some corrupt files in the installation directory which is preventing the game from detecting the anti-cheat. One way of fixing it will be to reinstall the game, however, a simple method would be to verify file integrity.
You can do this by right-clicking on The First Descendant in the Steam Library then going to Properties -> Installed Files tab -> Verify Integrity.
This will start a process that will automatically go over all the files in the installation directory and fix the ones that may have been damaged.
5) Reach out to the support team
If the above solutions are not working out for you, then you might want to reach out to Nexon’s support team and put in a complaint. They will reach out to you with more troubleshooting solutions.
