The First Descendant complete Modules guide

Module are special items that you use to enhance your Descendants in The First Descendant. They help in improving character stats including utility, and the amount of damage the character does, as well as providing them with a new damage type.

Modules will help you provide each Descendant with a variety of playstyles. Getting the best Modules and enhancing them is a core part of the late-game grind in Nexon’s shooter.

So if you are looking to minmax your favorite Descendants, here is a guide that goes over everything you need to know about the Modules system in The First Descendant.

What are Modules in The First Descendant?

Descendant Modules

As mentioned, Modules are special items in the shooter that you can dismantle and combine to help enhance the abilities of your favorite Descendants. You will be able to use them to improve their survivability or give them a new damage type to make them more effective at clearing content.

There are primarily two types of Modules that you will find in The First Descendant:

Descendant Modules

  • These are directly given to your characters and help in buffing their core stats and skills.

Weapon Modules

  • Equipped on our weapon types and can be used to customize your favorite weapons in the game.

What is Module Capacity Limit?

Modules come with their own Capacity Limit in the shooter. This will prevent you from using the most powerful Modules that you have collected all at the same time.

This restriction is put to force you into adapting to different playstyles. If you are allowed to put any mod that you want, your Descendant will become too overpowered. This is why both Descendant and Weapon Modules come with their separate capacity limits.

You can increase these limits by increasing your Master Rank, using Research Requests, equipping a Sub Module, and equipping Modules in the Matching slots.

How to view and equip Modules

To view and equip Modules on your Descendant, you will need to make your way into your inventory and then click on the Descendant Modules button which is located to the left.

To equip a Module on a weapon you will need to use the arrow button which is present on the right of the weapon’s icon. You can also hover your cursor on the weapon and press the “Module Settings” button.

This will open up a menu with all your modules, and weapons that have the same name will feature the same Module Settings.

Once you are in the Modules Settings for either your Descendant or your weapon, you will be able to pick a mod that you want to use. So choose it and then pick a desired slot to put it in.

Make sure that you are putting a Module in a slot that matches its type. If you do this the cost of the Module will be halved, however, if you put it in the wrong slot, the cost will be doubled.

Matching the slots is a great way of being able to equip more Modules within the current Capacity Limit.

Also do keep in mind that both the Descendant and Weapon Modules can be categorized into groups. You will only be able to have one module equipped for each group, hence there is only one Attack Module that you can equip at any given time.

Fortunately, if you are unsure about which Modules to put on your weapon and Descendant, the shooter comes with a beginner-friendly, “Auto-Equip Modules” feature. Just click on it and the game will automatically equip th best-in-slot mods that you have acquired thus far.

How to farm more Modules in The First Descendant

There are multiple ways of farming Modules in The First Descendant. However, as there are multiple Module rarity you will be able to target farm them by investing time in particular game modes.

Standard Modules:

  • Obtained by defeating base enemies and mobs in the field. They are the easiest Modules to get.

Rare Modules:

  • Obtained from higher tier content. Dungeons that are more challenging will drop rarer Modules.

Ultimate Modules:

  • The best source of Ultimate Modules are the Void Intercept missions. They are late-game content and it’s best to tackle them when you are at higher Master Rank.

Transcendent Modules:

  • Void Intercept missions and Void Intercept Bosses are the best source for this Module rarity. Bosses in particular have a much higher drop rate of these Modules.

How to dismantle and enhance Modules

Dismantling is the best way of dealing with Modules that you do not need. It’s a lot like item deconstruction and upon doing it you will be able to get your hands on crafting materials like the Kuiper Shards.

To Dismantle and Enhance Modules, you will need to talk to Silion in Albion. Then pick the Dismantling option, choose the Modules you don’t need, and turn them into resources.

Once you have Kuiper Shards you can then use them to enhance the Modules that you do need. This will improve the stats that they offer, but do keep in mind that enhancing Modules can increase their Capacity Cost.

If you are already running low on Capacity Limit, enhancing a Module that is core to your playstyle might not be such a good idea.

How to combine Modules

Apart from dismantling, the other way to deal with Modules that you do not need is to combine them. You will be able to do it by visiting Silion again in Albion, however, do keep in mind that combining Modules will cost a fair bit of Gold.

The resulting Module that you get will depend on the tier of the parent Modules, along with their types and cost.

What are Sub Modules in The First Descendant?

As you make your way through Nexon’s shooter, you will come across a special type of Modules called the Sub Modules. They are equipped in the bottom-left slot in the Descendant Modules Setting and they primarily provide you with two things:

Change your Sub Attack:

  • By changing your Sub Attack you will be able to gain access to certain weapons and abilities like Shortsword and Dual Claw attacks which fall under the melee category.

Increase Module Capacity Limit:

  • Sub Modules will also help increase your maximum Module Capacity. With better upgrades to Sub Modules, your capacity will go up significantly.

What are Skill Modules in The First Descendant?

Skill Modules are the core part of The First Descendant’s late-game grind. These are special mods that can only be of Transcendent quality. They are incredible and can only be equipped in the slot located in the top-left corner of your Descendant Module Settings.

Skill Modules help change the properties of a particular character. It can either enhance some of their core skills or add more mechanics to how the skill will play out in battle.

Mixing and matching Skill Modules will provide more gameplay versatility, and help you minmax your favorite Descendant to fit your playstyle.
