Encrypted Chests are secret chests that are designed to look like humanoid objects and are hidden in the world of The First Descendant. Spawning in almost every single region, these chests contain consumables that will help you craft other necessary items.
So, here’s how you can find these Encrypted Vaults and how you can open them.
Where to find Encrypted Vaults
Encrypted Vaults randomly spawn in The First Descendant, and it’s very hard to pinpoint their location. However, to find them, keep an eye out for a blue symbol on the ground.
When you locate this blue symbol, stand on it and use your Ecive scan to scan the environment. You should hear a low pitched ringing. If you rotate the camera now, you’ll realise that the intensity of the sound increases.

Stop at the point where the intensity is the highest and then keep moving in that direction. Keep using your Ecive scans too. Once you’re close enough to an Encrypted Vault, they should come up as diamond markers on your HUD when you use the Ecive scans.
These Encrypted Vaults will only start becoming available once you get access to the Classified Area in the Sterile Lands, but will not spawn in Kingston.
How to open Encrypted Vaults
Encrypted Vaults can only be opened by using Code Analysers. These items are consumables that drop when you defeat monsters anywhere in the world other than Kingston in The First Descendant.
When you approach an Encrypted Vault, you’ll be given the prompt to use a code analyser, and when you do so, it will take you to a timed minigame. Once you solve it, the chest will open and you’ll be able to collect its contents.

It’s important to note that you should be quitting the minigame while you’re attempting it because you won’t get the Code Analyser back. So, if you’ve used one, make sure you complete the game.
