“A Free Meal?” is a chain of subquests that you will be able to complete as you go about exploring the open world in Wuthering Waves. The mission is given to you by Patroller Minghu who will ask you to solve certain puzzles and then fight the enemies that spawn afterward.
These subquests can be a bit challenging and you might be struggling with the puzzle part of it if you aren’t exactly sure of how to go about completing them. Fortunately, the missions will reward your efforts as completing them will net you a lot of Shell Credits as well as Union EXP to improve your Union Level.
Below is a detailed guide on everything you need to know about completing the “A Free Meal?” quests in the RPG.
How to start “A Free Meal?” in Wuthering Waves
To start the quest you will be required to speak to Patroller Minghu who is located in the Distribution centre. He is looking for new recruits and after talking to him he will ask you to go beat some Tacet Discords.
These enemies will spawn once you solve some puzzles. Hence, the quest is not as straightforward as it seems.
Completing “A Free Meal?” 1 in Wuthering Waves
After talking to Patroller Minghu, make your way to the objective marker where you will find a set of three puzzles that you will need to complete to activate the three mechanisms in the area.
Puzzle 1:
Puzzle 1 will ask you to complete a Signals Console. Refer to the image above for the correct pattern.
Once you have completed it, some enemies will spawn. So beat them and move on to the next one.
Puzzle 2:
You will need to find two sensing modules and then insert them in the missing slots. You will find the modules nearby so just grab them and put them in the slots that are close to it.
Some enemies will spawn again once you complete it. Take them out and move on to the next set.
Puzzle 3:
The final set in “A Free Meal?” 1 is the more difficult one, as you will need to solve a Magnetic Cube puzzle to complete it. What makes it tricky is the fact that each of the three cubes uses a different route.
It’s a bit time-consuming to get this one correct, so you might have to invest in a bit of trial and error. However, once you get the mechanics down, it won’t be too hard to solve it.
Once you solve it, three Tacet Discords will spawn. You will need to beat them to round out the quest.

After completing “A Free Meal?” 1, you will be able to get your hands on the following rewards after talking to Patroller Minghu:
- 500x Union EXP
- 20x Astrite
- 2x Advanced Resonance Potion
- 2x Advanced Energy Core
- 18,000x Shell Credits
Completing “A Free Meal?” 2 in Wuthering Waves
Upon completing “A Free Meal?” 1 you will be able to start “A Free Meal?” 2 once a day has passed in Wuthering Waves. Once the quest appears, you will need to go to talk to Minghu again near the Distribution Center.
The second part of the quest line will have another set of puzzles for you to complete.
Puzzle 1:
For the first puzzle, you will need to guide Minghu. The aim is to attack the Magnetic Cube and guide it through a certain direction. You will need to invest in the following attack pattern as soon as the mission begins:
- Attack forwards > Attack Right > Attack forwards
Once done, you will continue along the path til you are able to reclaim your weapon and face off against some “patrol in red”. As you reach the second puzzle of the quest, make sure to loot all the chests in the location. They contain a fair bit of Union EXP and Asterite.
Puzzle 2
The next puzzle is an Encryption Block and to solve it you will first need to use the Levitator to get the Key Repeaters.
The next step is to place them on the Blocks in the correct rotation. Check the image above for the correct pattern.
Once the puzzle is done keep moving to the next objective marker till you reach NPC Gousi being surrounded by “man in red”. Save him and head out of the cave.
For the final step of the quest, you will have to beat “Fractsidus Executioner Guardian”, you will find the boss outside the quest attacking the Patrollers. Take it down, and then talk to Minghu to complete the “A Free Meal?” 2.

For completing the second part of the questline, you will receive:

- 2x Advanced Resonance Potion
- 2x Advanced Energy Core
- 18,000x Shell Credits
The subquest is a great source of obtaining Union EXP to raise your Union Level in Kuro Games’ RPG.
