Wild Heart’s Return is a companion quest in Wuthering Waves where you go on a journey with Lingyang. It’s one of the longest side missions, where the Rover gets to bond with one of the recruitable characters in the RPG.
There is a lot of lore that you will get to enjoy when completing this mission. So if you are looking to learn more about Solar-3 and its citizens it’s advised thaat you try the quest as soon as it pops up.
The quest is pretty long and it will take you an hour or two to complete it. Below are all the steps you will need to take to round out the Wild Heart’s Return quest in Wuthering Waves.
How to start Lingyang’s Wild Heart’s Return companion quest
The Wild Heart’s Return quest will be available once you are ready to reach Union Level 14 in Kuro Games‘ RPG. It will introduce Lingyang to the story and to start the quest you will need to speak to him.
Lingyag can be found in the theatre area of Jinzhou. You will find him with a couple of kids, so interact with him, go through the cut scene, and exhaust all his dialog.
How to complete Wild Heart’s Return companion quest in Wuthering Waves
Here are a few steps that you will need to take to complete Wild Heart’s Return companion quest in Wuthering Waves:
Step 1: Find Lingyang’s clients
Lingyang is a sort of a business owner in Jinzhou and the first step will be to help him find three of his clients.
- Client 1: You will first talk to Ganxue who is on the other side of the gift shop counter.
- Client 2: Head east from Ganxue to talk to a young couple
- Client 3: Head across the river to find Shuncai
Once you have talked to the clients you will learn about the Jingle Beast, which has been roaming the area.
Your aim will be to defeat it, but before you head out, head to the teahouse to talk to Lingyang. He will talk to you about one of the Jingle Beast’s victims.
Step 2: Rescue the logistician and find a suspicious camp
Head out to the next quest marker where you will find a Stern Courier getting attacked. Save him and and talk to him to learn that the Exile group known as “The Savages” are capable of communicating with the JIngle Beast.
You will now set out to find the camp where you will encounter these so-called savages. So, make your way to the first dimly-lit camp that you see on the hill, inspect it, and Lingyang will quickly figure out that it’s not the right one.
Keep heading north from that camp and to the left you will find the site that you are actually looking for.
The next task will be to eavesdrop on the beats. To find the perfect spot:
- Climb up behind the mountain to find some crates.
- Take position behind them.
- Make sure you are not spotted as it’s easy to be detected in this camp.
Once you have heard the conversation, you will need to search the camp. Find the two clues that are highlighted and then move on to the next step.
Step 3: Explore the Hidden Caverns as Lingyang
After a brief conversation with Bei Shi and then Lingyang you will now have to explore the Hidden Caverns. However, you will be doing this as Lingyang, so switch to the character by either pressing the number slot he is on if you are on PC, the directional arrow buttons if you are using a controller, or tapping on his icon if you are on mobile.
Once you are controlling Linyang, you will have to:
- Head to the very back of the cavern. Once you reach a dead end, jump and grab he rock that is jutting out from the node on the left. Now throw it at the wall.
- You will see some fragile rocks next to a chest. You can use jump-attack to break them and you will head deeper into the cavern. The camera will also take on a 2D perspective turning Wild Heart’s Return companion quest in Wuthering Waves into a platforming mini-game.
- Head down the hole you just made, but make sure to avoid the yellow thorns. You will eventually reach the cliff. Head further down from there by using the glider. You will need to smash more rocks to get to the very bottom.
- Smash two more piles of rocks and you will find a big enemy infront. Smash the rock formation before him to clear the path. Use the grapple feature to your advantage. Beat all the enemies you find as well.
- You will spot a gust of wind as you progress, use the glider to make you float up and then down to help you navigate the area and avoid the thorns. Use the final gust to head up and move back to 3D. Here you will find some enemies and a Noctemint.
Step 4: Lure the Spearback
Once you obtain the Noctemint, you will need to lure the Spearback away through the shortcut that you just found. This will open the path to the lowest depths and channel a cutscene.
Defeat the Savages and head back to the theatre in Jinzhou. Once you return, look for the three yellow lights backstage:
- One on the top of the table
- One one the shelf
- Another one can be found behind the pile of boxes
Step 5: Head back to the theatre next day
For the final step of the Wild Heart’s Return companion quest in Wuthering Waves, you will need to head back to the Theatre the next day.
Use the main menu to skip tie to between 15:00 and 17:00 the next day, to watch Lingyang’s performance. This will lead to another long conversation. So exhaust all of his dialogs to round out the quest.
