Wuthering Waves allows a neat crossplay co-op feature that will let you boot up the open world with a friend even if they are on a different platform. It’s a great system that will let you explore the secrets of the RPG together and even make some of the hardest content significantly easier.
However, the game doesn’t explain how you can go about making the most of the feature. You will first need to add a friend to Wuthering Waves, and only then will you be able to invite them to your world or go to theirs.

How to add friends in Wuthering Waves
Before you get to play with a friend in Wuthering Waves you will be required to add them to your friend list first. Here is how you can do it:
- Find out your friend’s Unique ID in Wuthering Waves. This will appear in the main menu under the Rover’s current name.
- Once you find the ID, copy and paste it into the search bar of the Friends menu.
- The account to which the ID belongs to, will pop up. Just click on it and send a friend request.
- Now just wait for them to accept the request. Once they do you will now see them in the friends tab.
How to co-op with a friend in Wuthering Waves
Once you have added your friend you will be able to co-op with them by:
- Searching for their account ID in the Friends menu. As you have already added them you do not need their Unique ID anymore. Just search them with their account name or ID.
- You can also scroll through the list of available friends that to find the co-op buddy that you are looking for.
- Once you see them you can then click on their names and either request to join their world, or invite them to join yours.
Crossplay co-op limitations in Wuthering Waves
Do keep in mind that there are certain limitations when it comes to crossplay in Wuthering Waves. While you will be able to seamlessly play with a friend who is on a different platform, the nuance arises from the server side.
According to the official FAQ, you will not be able to play with a friend who is on a different server. Cross-progression and crossplay are limited to the server that you are on.
While you will be able to change your servers at any time, do keep in mind that the save will not carry over. You will be forced to play the game from the beginning if you change your server region.
So be careful when picking a server. If you are keen on enjoying co-op, it’s best that you and your friend select the same server.
