Scientists of Deadlock seem to meet their demise every time they become curious about an Astral gate. We know that Dynamo lost his physical body because of venturing too far into one of these.
But he is not the only egghead who is barely hanging on to his existence after getting a bit too interested in an Astral Gate. Dynamo’s best friend, Kelvin, was a scientist and an expert expeditionist.
They last met each other in the Black Château, which is a mysterious location for gathering between academics. But that’s besides the point, because the next time Dynamo came face to face with Kelvin was when he was just a reanimated frozen corpse with no memory of what happened to him.

A mysterious rock is the only thing keeping Kelvin alive
According to the official backstory behind the character, Kelvin found out about an astral gate opening up in the polar Arctic. He excitedly planned a voyage, but something went horribly wrong, and he went missing.
His frozen body was found clutching onto a mysterious rock with glowing runes, which was apparently the only thing that was keeping him alive. Kelvin no longer has a pulse, nor does he bleed like other humans.

The voyager now seeks answers to what became of him and to regain his life. This is why he is participating in the ritual, hoping to seek an audience with the patrons.
Kelvin will get a redesign soon
You might have noticed that in-game, Kelvin does not really give off the vibe of being a zombie. Well, that is one of the major complaints of a lot of people in the community.
Deadlock was previously called Neon Prime, a game with a completely different setting and aesthetics. Most of the characters in Dedlock still use models and designs from the Neon Prime iteration and are supposed to receive redesigns sometime in the future.
We are hoping that Kelvin will get a new design that would make him look more accurate to his lore. Besides all of that, Kelvin has had a life full of many successful voyages, on all of which he has written several books.

He is constantly called an ‘Ice Weight’ by other characters due to being undead, but he prefers the term ‘revenant.’ One last fun fact about Kelvin is that, after coming to terms with his current situation, he has befriended Victor.
He is another undead participant in the ritual, and both have promised they would stick with each other.
