Deadlock does not just make sure to bring in diversity with fictional races. There are visitors in New York’s Cursed Apple from all across the globe who have appeared conveniently at the right time to participate in the ritual.
One such character is Nashala Dion, the Djinn, and her diplomatic bodyguard, Mirage. That’s right, most people playing the game might not be aware, but Mirage is not participating in the summoning ritual to fulfill his own motives.
Mirage is there just to do his master’s bidding, which in this case is Nashala Dion. They have traveled across the globe to negotiate with the US government for the ownership of a piece of land in Wyoming. But if negotiations fall through, then the alternative should be seeking out the patrons.

The Djins are a race of curious supernatural beings
If you are thinking that it sounds like a very materialistic yet simple wish for royalty, something which should not require help from extraterrestrial beings, then you are not alone. Mirage is often frustrated by her impulsive shortsightedness, even though he is fully devoted to everything the Djinn demands.
In Deadlock, Djinns are a race of curious supernatural beings that reside alongside humanity. They are very similar to their real-world mythological counterparts that we are aware of in popular media.

Djinns like Nashala can conjure immense levels of powerful feats, but in irregular doses. This is because Djinns are incapable of maintaining corporeal form in the physical plane of existence; they require vessels to contain themselves.
This is where the highly skilled human bodyguards, like Mirage, come in. These special bodyguards are put in charge of the transport, protection, and companionship of their respective Djinn masters.
Mirage is not a blank canvas and can form his own opinions
As an individual, Mirage is very open about his experience with the culture of Djinns, often labelling some of them as “assholes.” But he thoroughly enjoys the companionship of Nashala.
Even though it has only been a few years since Mirage was employed by Nashala, he vows to devote himself to fulfilling her wishes even at the expense of his own life.

And It should come as no surprise that characters such as Mina and Lady Giest absolutely admire Mirage’s devotion to his master. They have voice lines specifically complimenting him for this.
One last fun fact about Mirage is that he absolutely hates Paradox and her organization because they keep trying to steal Nashala to put in their museum. If you liked our video, then do make sure to follow and subscribe to our channel for more deadlock lore and facts.
