If you are looking to get your hands on the martial arts movesets in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree then you will need to complete Dryleaf Dane’s Monk’s Missive questline. Once you round it out you will gain access to the Dryleaf Arts weapon which is a pair of gloves that will let you punch and kick your way through the Land of Shadows like a Shaolin Monk.
However, getting your hands on the gloves is easier said than done, as the Monk’s Missive quest has a few nuances you must keep in mind. You can’t just wail on the NPC when you meet him to get the gloves.
You will have to go through the quest route, challenge him to a duel, and only after beating him will you get the item.

Where to find Dryleaf Dane in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree?
To find Dryleaf Dane you will need to first arrive in Scadu Altus and make your way to the Highroad Cross Site of Grace to find the Monk’s Missive.
Route 1:
There are several ways of reaching the area, however, the more linear route will be through Castle Ensis. You will need to beat the final boss of the dungeon and then head to the area near where Hornsent is standing. You will find Monk’s Missive there.
Route 2:
If you are reaching Scadu Altus from Fort of Reprimand you will need to go along the road which is to the north of Moorth Ruins. When you reach the fork, you will then need to head south to find the Monk’s Missive.
Once you reach the area through either route you will get the item along with the ‘May the Best Win’ gesture.
How to challenge Dryleaf Dane to a duel in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Once you have picked up the Monk’s Missive challenge you will need to head to the east of Highroad Cross Site of Grace. You will eventually reach the Moorth Ruins Site of Grace to find Dryleaf Dane finding there.
Now to start the duel you will need to perform the ‘May the Best Win’ gesture. If you did not have the gesture before meeting him the duel will not take place.
Once you perform the gesture you will then immediately warp to have a 1v1 with him. Dane is not too difficult a fight if you are out-ranging him. Dagger, mages, and gauntlet users will have a harder time.
Fortunately, he has low health and staggers easily. So as long as you are keeping the pressure up, you will be able to take him down.
Once defeated the monk will share a few positive words with you and drop the Dane’s Hat along with the Dryleaf Arts weapon.
