While The First Descendant is essentially a co-op third-person shooter, there are moments when you would like to enjoy the game privately, as a solo player. Like with any multiplayer shooter, there can be some toxic elements in the community, and to catch a break from them you can find some solitude and enjoy the game alone.
Fortunately, there are ways that you will be able to play The First Descendant solo, and the guide below goes over some steps that you will need to take to enjoy a private lobby.
How to avail Single Player mode and play Solo in The First Descendant

To be able to enjoy The First Descendant solo, here are a few things that you will need to do:
- Make your way to Albion. Once you are in the main hub you will need to click on the Public blue bar on your map. This will automatically switch the mode to Private play.
- You will find the blue bar at the top left of the screen. So bring out your map when you are in Albion and switch.
- However, do keep in mind that switching to a private mode can only be done when you are in the main hub. If you are anywhere outside Albion, you will not be allowed to switch to solo.
- Alternatively, you can click on the bar again to switch back to a Public lobby at any time.
Apart from this method, there is another way of enjoying certain content privately in The First Descendant.
- When you start the final dungeons of one of the sub-regions, the game will automatically prompt you to pick between private and public play.
- Choosing private here will let you clear out the content as a single player and no other player will be able to intervene.
Should you pick Private or Public play in The First Descendant?
Unless you are really frustrated with the co-op part of the shooter, we recommend that you stick to clearing content with a full party. The best Descendants in the game synergize well together and will let you breeze through some of the most difficult content in the game.
So if you are serious about min-maxing your character into the late game, you will not be able to avoid the multiplayer content. Scaling can be an issue in solo play and most dungeons and bosses can be an insurmountable hurdle in Nexon‘s shooter.
