There are a lot of amazing anime out there with absolutely ridiculous plot. Some of these shows are incredibly popular and are going on for decades, despite following some of the most bizzare storylines.
Additionally, some of these shows got popular very recently which take the dullness of daily life and add over-the-top gags that turn the ordinary into the outrageously absurd.
Below, we have listed a number of amazing shows that have the most ridiculous plot out there.
Ridiculous storylines in some amazing anime
Dorohedoro

Created by Q Hayashida, Dorohedoro is one of the most amazing shows out there, with the most ridiculous plot setup right off the bat. You follow the adventures of Caiman, a guy with a lizard for a head, because his real head was transformed by a sorcerer.
Caiman and his friend Nikaido are now on a bizarre adventure to search for the one who put him in this position.
But the ridiculousness doesn’t just stop there, because the show is set in an incredibly interesting, dark and fantasy world. This is elevated by the character designs and mesmerising art of the original creator.
Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

it would be a sin to leave this cult classic anime out of this list. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is definitely one of the most amazing anime franchises with some of the most ridiculous plotlines ever.
It’s hard to single out a specific part from the series because all of them should be considered for their weird and beautiful stories and characters.
The general plot of the franchise follows the story of characters from the same lineage, who are fighting off a vampire that’s been causing them problems for generations.
The Jojo’s franchise is a series with the longest running and most ridiculous or might we add, bizarre, anime plotline ever.
Cromartie High School

At first Cromartie High School might look like any regular anime series based around the high school setting, with an interesting artstyle which makes every character look too aged to be in a school setting, just like Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure.
Created by Eiji Nonaka, the series first aired in 2003 and the everyday plot of the show is very ridiculous with an amazing cast of characters.
The story follows Takashi Kamiyama, who is a newcomer to the Cromartie High School and meets some of the most interesting student characters ever written for an anime series, including even a robot and a character who literally looks like Freddie Mercury.
My Deer Friend Nokotan

One of the more recently released anime series with an absolutely ridiculous plot and setting. Written and illustrated by Oshioshio and later animated by Wit Studio, who are known for animating amazing series such as Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga.
It follows Torako Koshi, who is the perfect student at her school, with an incredibly popular repertoire among her peers, but little do they know that she hides a delinquent past.
Sounds pretty simple so far, but it all goes upside down when a new transfer student shows up named Noko Shikanoko, who seems to be a human-deer hybrid and ends up forming the ‘Deer Club’ along with our protagonist.
Nichijou

Similar in spirit to My Deer Friend Nokotoan and Cromartie High School, Nichijou follows a cast of weird high school girls, but also there are side stories that are going on simultaneously, which include a scientist and her wind-up robot girl.
The plot follows Yukko, Mio and Mai in their daily routines and adventures that hinge on ridiculous events, including their school principal wrestling with a deer. On the other side, we see the Professor and her robot Nano with a talking cat.
Every episode follows a surreal gag that goes over the top and is the sole reason why the show can be considered as one of the greatest comedy anime out there.
FLCL

Also known as Fooly Cooly, a show that was created by the legendary Gainax studio, sadly now defunct. But fortunately, FLCL as an anime franchise still exists in the form of various sequels and seasons. The show is amazing for its use of over the top animations.
FLCL follows the story of Naoto Nandaba, who is a regular boy, but the things in his life take for a crazy turn when he crosses paths with a mysterious guitar-wielding girl named Haruko Haruhara who claims to be an alien.
The anime gets more ridiculously interesting when Haruka hits Naoto on the head with her guitar, which opens up a dimensional portal to make way for massive robots.
Prison School

One of the most hilarious fan service anime of the current times. Prison School is an amazing show that follows a bunch of high schoolers who get themselves into trouble and as the title suggests, they have to serve a sentence staying imprisoned in school.
Created by Akira Hiramoto, the ridiculous plot of this show follows five male students enrolling into a very strict high school which was originally an all-girls high school, but is now suddenly a co-ed environment because of these newcomers.
The main characters get charged with allegations of peeping into the girls’ rest room and thus are forced to change into prison uniforms and stay under bizarre surveillance.
