Mario Kart World is a spin-off to what is probably one of the oldest platformers to exist in the world of gaming, and comes with a plethora of characters to choose from.
It’s a straight-up arcade racer, and is available on Nintendo Switch, with the latest iteration being restricted to the Switch 2 only.
The car models aren’t exactly realistic and have a cartoon-ish vibe to it, which is considerably different than the dark and brooding overtones that NFS titles usually have.
What’s more interesting here is that you can drive these vehicles as different characters, something which you cannot do in most of the Need For Speed titles.
All Mario Cart Characters
Mario Kart World has a total of 24 characters that you can choose from. However, if you take into account the different NPCs that come in the form of races, the number shoots up to over 50 of them.
Now, most of these characters are available by default, as indicated in the table below. However, you’ll still need to unlock some of them by completing different challenges tournaments.

What is Kamek’s Transformational Power?
Whenever you’re racing in a region, Kamek will transform you into a character that’s native to that particular region in Mario Kart World. This happens if you run into a box with the random transformational power item.
There’s no order to this transformation, and it looks like the creatures that you get transformed into are chosen at random in Mario Kart World. Once you’ve unlocked a transformation though, you have the character available permanently.
