“Code your own engine” Borderlands CEO snaps after poor BL4 Performance Backlash

Borderlands 4 was touted as one of the biggest releases for this year, but unfortunately, had a very bad launch.

Riddled with performance issues, the game suffers heavily, even on systems with some of the most powerful gaming GPUs present in the market today.

While this would normally call for a day one patch, Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox Studios, doesn’t seem to agree with the opinion that most gamers have about Borderlands 4.

Despite Performance Woes for Borderlands 4, CEO Randy Pitchford Pushes Back Against Disgruntled Players

Although Borderlands 4 does have a really fun gameplay loop, its performance is abysmal on most devices, including consoles. However, Randy Pitchford claims that it’s a premium game that is aimed at a premium playerbase.

For a product that’s priced at around $70-$80, it’s only natural for players to expect a functional title, which runs without any major hiccups or glitches.

One would also expect that even if there were any glitches, it’d be addressed before the title fully launches. However, Gearbox hasn’t done that, and instead, CEO Randy Pitchford is pushing back against the community for complaining about it.

In a reply on X, he asked someone to “code their own engine” before complaining about the game running poorly.

Additionally, this isn’t the first time he’s chosen to respond in this way. Fans of the franchise have pointed out that in the past, rather than acknowledging concerns made by the players, he’s responded in a way that’s confrontational and defensive.

Either way, hopefully Gearbox is working to fix the technical issues that currently plague the game. It’s a decent title yes, but unless the technicall issues are addressed, it’s unlikely that players will keep jumping into it.

Furthermore, the longer Gearbox delays these fixes, the more interest the Borderlands 4 community will lose as the days go by.
