With the culminatioin of the Light vs Darkness saga, Destiny 2 needed a new direction and the Year of Prophecy roadmap highlights what we can expect for the next year.
With this new saga, which is being dubbed as the Fate saga, Bungie is switching things up quite a bit and is introducing some major changes to some of their more popular systems that have existed so far.
They’re also going in with a “freemium” approach with their seasons, starting with the Edge of Fate expansion after the Rite of the Nine ends.
What to expect during the Year of Prophecy in Destiny 2
The Year of Prophecy in Destiny 2 is divided into two halves by two expansions, namely:
- Edge of Fate
- Renegade
These two expansions will have one season each, and a major update. Both these seasons and major updates will have their individual reward passes, and will feature a tonne of new Exotics and other gear.

Destiny 2 Edge of Fate
- New Season (Reclamation)
- New Raid (July 19)
- New weapons and armor
- Rewards Pass
- Major Update – Ash and Iron (September 9)
For this new expansion, Guardians will be heading to Kepler, a mysterious planet at the edge of Sol, to honor an invite by the Nine. It’s unclear what direction this will take because the Nine are beings that predate the Traveler too.

With the Edge of Fate, Destiny 2 will be coming up with its first Raid Race post the Light vs Darkness saga in the Year of Prophecy. With the new and reworked gear systems, it’ll be worth seeing how this pans out for everyone.
Destiny 2 Renegades
- New Season (Lawless)
- New dungeon (Release date TBA)
- New Weapons and Armor
- Rewards Pass
- Major Update – Shadow & Order (March 3, 2026)
Not much is known about this expansion for now, but it does draw a lot of influence from Star Wars. From Lightsabers to Star Wars-themed cosmetics, you’ll get your hands on a lot of stuff from a Galaxy Far Far Away!
This expansion will also feature a Dungeon, which is likely to witness a Dungeon Race too. Although this competition has just started, it’s turning out to be as popular as the Raid Races themselves.
