Since the release of the first game in 2003, the Call of Duty franchise has come a long way. With time, the series has become one of the biggest FPS behemoths in gaming history.
Each year, with a new Call of Duty game, hundreds of weapons join the arsenal and some of them are surely worth remembering. From World War 2 to the distant future, the franchise has featured weapons from different time periods.
Here are some iconic weapons that are a part of the Call of Duty franchise.
Intervention (Modern Warfare 2 2009)

If you are a veteran Call of Duty fan, you’d never forget the Intervention from Modern Warfare 2. Using the sniper’s quickscope ability became one of the biggest flexes in the game’s history.
The Intervention did a lot of damage even with body shots. With its extreme penetration power and quick ADS, this is one of the most iconic weapons in Call of Duty.
Akimbo Model 1887 (Modern Warfare 2 2009)

The Akimbo Model 1887 dual wielded shotgun was probably one of the most broken weapons in the entire Call of Duty series.
The same weapon has recently returned in Warzone and MW3 as an Aftermarket Part, but it isn’t as broken as before.
Kar98K (Modern Warfare 2019)

The Kar98K is one of the most popular weapons in the Call of Duty franchise. Although it’s made multiple appearances in the entire series, but it shot to popularity after Warzone’s release in 2020.
The gun’s easy handling made it one of the most used weapons in Warzone since Resurgence mode became popular.
ACR (Modern Warfare 2 2009)

The ACR, due to its easy recoil and effective range, became one of the most popular weapons in the game’s history.
The same weapon also returned in Modern Warfare 3 (2023) with a new name, the MCW, and it is still as effective as before.
BAL-27 (Advanced Warfare)

The BAL-27 in Advanced Warfare was one of the most overpowered assault rifles in the game. Due to its effective range and high fire-rate, it used to shred enemies in seconds.
The same weapon has recently returned in Warzone and MW3 Season 3 Reloaded with the same name, but with a few nerfs.
MP40 (World at War)

Speaking of modern day weapons and weapons from the future, this SMG from the World at War was one of the most iconic weapons in Call of Duty history.
Be it close-range or mid-range, the gun’s viability was over the top. In Call of Duty: World at War, the MP40 was undoubtedly the most used weapon because it was easy to unlock.
M16 (Modern Warfare 2019)

During Warzone’s reign in 2020, another weapon that stayed as broken for a long time was the M16. Its burst fire mode instantly killed the opponent player because it’s easy to land headshots with a three-round burst.
The gun was mostly popular in the Verdansk map, and the developers later nerfed it because it was became the only weapon that players wanted to use.
These are the most iconic weapons in the entire Call of Duty history. While there are a lot of weapons that are quite popular, the weapons on this list can be called absolute fan favorites because of how lethal they were in their time.
