PokeStops in Pokemon GO are interactable points that are situated in real-life locations. You can click on them and spin their disks to get in-game resources as rewards. You can also submit nominations for making PokeStops, provided you meet certain criteria set by Niantic.
PokeStops are easily identifiable on the Pokemon GO map through their light blue color and the Poke Ball symbol embedded within a ring. Once you interact with one, their color temporarily changes to purple. You can also use Lure Modules at PokeStop to attract wild Pokemon around it.
How to submit PokeStop nominations in Pokemon GO

You need to be Level 37 to be able to submit a nomination for a PokeStop in Pokemon GO. The process of doing so is as follows:
- Go into the in-game main menu and then to Settings. If you are at the requisite level, you will have the Player Nominations option.
- Click on New PokeStop. You need to be at the location where you want the new PokeStop in Pokemon GO nomination to be. A map will open up where you will have to place an orange Poke Ball symbol on the exact location. Once you are satisfied, click Confirm.
- Click a high-quality picture of the nomination. This needs to be clear, with the location visible and in the center of the frame. The Niantic guidelines mention that you need to click the picture yourself without “people, body parts, live animals, or copyrighted objects/materials.”
- Once this is done, you will have to click an extra photo that shows the area surrounding your nomination. This is to help the community reviewers who will be deciding whether that spot can be a PokeStop in Pokemon GO.
- Once all of this is done, add a detailed title and informative description of the location that others may find interesting. Neither should include references to usernames and game-specific terms or HTML and URLs.
- The nomination then needs to be categorized among the variety of choices available. You can also select Other to suggest a new category.
- Preview everything that you have done. Once satisfied, move ahead and confirm.
The final step involves discussing why your nomination for a PokeStop in Pokemon GO will enrich the in-game experience. Niantic wants you to explain what makes that location “a high-quality candidate.” This helps the community reviewers make an informed decision on the matter.

What happens after you have submitted your PokeStop nomination in Pokemon GO
You will receive a confirmation mail, and the nomination will be sent for review. Niantic says it may take several weeks or months for it to be processed. Once a decision has been reached, you will again be notified whether the nomination is eligible or not.
Furthermore, your PokeStop nomination location may not appear in Pokemon GO even when accepted. Instead, they may appear in other Niantic games. It is a time-consuming process, and you may not hear back regarding your submission.
But then, who doesn’t want a PokeStop just by their home that they can interact with daily to gather a handful of resources? These spots are also good for Lure Modules and PokeStop Showcases.
So get on with it, find an interesting stop, and pray to the Niantic gods that you can wake up one day and see your new PokeStop in Pokemon GO in all its glory!
