The Fledgling God from Deadlock

The summoning ritual, which has been plaguing the streets of Deadlock’s Cursed Apple, is hosted by the patrons. They are interdimensional beings who have been trying to make their way into the real world for certain reasons, which is unclear in the game so far.

The rest of the playable cast e seems to be mere pawns being heavily manipulated. Or so you would think, because there exists one character in this roster who is deliberately holding back their true self and may measure up to the interdimensional hosts.

I am, of course, talking about the caretaker and the bellboy of Hotel Baroness, the Doorman. If you have been playing Deadlock for a while now, you probably have already noticed that his abilities don’t really look like they are of mortal origin.

The Doorman used to love torturing humans

Being able to trap enemies in pocket dimensions and pushing them around using a supernatural luggage cart. Most of his gameplay is designed around annoying the opponents. Almost as if some God-like entity was playing around with his prey.

The very core of his playstyle is a reflection of his past. The being known as “Doorman” is a fledgling God who was once known to find glee in tormenting humanity. All of that changed once he randomly decided to spend a few weeks in the realm of humans.

He disguised himself as a simple doorman for the Hotel Baroness, which had just opened up in the middle of New York’s Cursed Apple. This was the experience that forever changed his outlook towards all things living.

Even though some guests at Baroness are rude to him, the Doorman stays unfazed and ever so respectful. The fledgling God started enjoying his life and interactions with mortals so much so that he has not left it ever since.

The Patrons are old friends of the Doorman

Eventually, the place became a supernatural domain and a part of the entity known as Doorman. Although he is not the only attendant at the hotel. Through the Doorman’s dialogues, we get to know about two of his colleagues, Jaques and Francis.

It is currently unknown if the two unseen characters are just the Doorman’s constructs or actual human beings he loves working with. This also brings us to his relation with the patrons.

Both the Hidden King and Arch Mother are ‘old friends’ of his, and he refers to them as City Mother and Amber King. They are the reason why he is participating in the ritual, as he is motivated to meet with them after a long time.

The Patrons, on the other hand, also think very highly of the Doorman. Or at least in the entity’s true form from the past, because they feel that his torturous side is who he was meant to be.
