Wuthering Waves When the Forest is no longer Dim quest guide

When the Forest is no longer Dim is one of the longest side quests in Wuthering Waves. You will be tasked to clear a contaminated zone near the Giant Banyan and then gain access to a Research Institute.

The area will be filled with poisonous spores once you get there, which will constantly sap away your character’s HP. However, once you are done with the mission you will be able to explore the area without having to worry about the contamination.

While a long and puzzle-filled side quest, it’s advised that you complete it because of the ton of Union EXP, Shell Credits, and crafting materials that it offers. So if you are looking for a bit of a challenge during exploration, do not hesitate to complete When the Forest is no longer Dim in Wuthering Waves.

How to complete When the Forest is no longer Dim in Wuthering Waves

Here are all the steps that you will need to take to complete When the Forest is no longer Dim in Wuthering Waves:

Step 1: Find the missing Researcher

When the Forest is no Longer Dim Researcher

As soon as the quest starts you will receive a distress call from a location near the Giant Banyan. Head to the quest marker and you will find a few exiles who have imprisoned the main researcher.

Defeat them and then acquire the key from inside a tent. Now interact with the cage that the researcher is in to free her.

She will then take you to the Giant Banyan where you will need to search for another researcher. You will find some spots highlighted in yellow on the minimap.

Head to the point of interest and use your sensor. You will find the first marker in the middle of some animal carcasses, the second one is in the middle of a fallen branch, with the third circle leading you to the researcher.

Step 2: Solve the puzzles and clear the contaminated zones

The next part of the When the Forest is no longer Dim quest in Wuthering Waves will task you to solve some puzzles and free the area of the poisonous spores.

The researcher will take you to multiple zones that are contaminated. The goal here is to direct a beam of light at the core in the middle to destroy the spores.

To start the puzzles, you will need to hit the first mechanism by heading to the quest marker. Then rotate the other mechanisms (by hitting them) in specific directions so that the beam hits the core.

Contamination Zone 1:

  • To solve the puzzle in the first zone, you will need to hot the mechanism that the light is getting reflected to one time.
  • Then to help it reach the core hit the third and the last mechanism in the zone two times.

Zone 2:

When the Forest is no Longer Dim COntamination Zone two
  • Rotate the second mechanism that the beam falls on two times.
  • After that rotate the third mechanism once. Hit the fourth mechanism two times, and the fifth mechanism once.

After you are done with the second zone, you will need to collect some ingredients from the nearby area and help the researchers create some antibodies.

Zone 3:

When the Forest is no Longer Dim Contamination Zone Three
  • Once you activate the beam in the third area you will need to rotate the second mechanism two times (make sure it faces the mechanism nearest to the researchers).
  • Rotate the fourth mechanism two times.
  • You will now be able to connect the other mechanisms to deal with the core in the final zone.

The contamination zone puzzles in the When the Forest is no Longer Dim quest can be completed much faster if you have some line like Mortefi or Chixia. Ranged weapons mean you will not have to keep running around hitting the mechanisms.
