Soaring RAM costs are not the only thing to be concerned about when it comes to the AI boom, as Nvidia and AMD are reportedly gearing up to significantly raise the prices of GPUs as well. Starting in 2026, both companies might look to raise the prices of the processors, which they will incrementally keep going up every month.
The news comes from mobilenewsis who reports the following:
“Both companies are reportedly planning to continue raising GPU prices every month going forward. It’s highly likely that the price increases will extend across their entire product lineup, encompassing not only consumer GPUs but also GPUs for AI data centers and servers.”
This bit of news comes after it was reported that Nvidia was going to cut gaming GPU production by 30-40% in 2026. This led many to believe that AMD will likely be looking to take this as the perfect opportunity to gain market share, as Nvidia GPU prices will skyrocket, and they can maximize sales by keeping their products at MSRP.
However, this won’t be the case as AMD will be capitalizing on it in the worst way possible and significantly increase their GPU prices with Nvidia.
Nvidia RTX 5090 will jump from $2K to $5K thanks to AI slop

The constant investment in generative AI has been detrimental to gamers. The unfiltered generation of AI slop, where Indian YouTube channels are leading the race, is already leading RAM prices to be more expensive than the PS5.
Now, Nvidia and AMD joining hands to raise GPU prices will make sure that PC gaming becomes more of a rich kid’s luxury than a hobby that is accessible to everyone.
Starting in 2026, the price of the Nvidia RTX 5090 will likely jump to $5000 from $2000. According to the report, the prices will keep climbing every month and will extend across both Nvidia and AMD’s entire product lineup.
So both AI data centers and ordinary consumers will be affected by this, and it will slowly lead to consoles that use these chips and processors to also significantly raise their price.
Hence, along with PC gamign console gaming will also start to become more and more inaccessible in the coming months.
It’s important to note here that Nvidia and AMD have yet to put out an official statement on this report. So it will be interesting to see how each of the tech companies starts pricing their products moving forward.
