10 Most Op Anime Villains of All Time (Ranked)

Every good action anime has some of the most op villains of all time. These antagonists may not necessarily be deadly because of their strength and feats. Some of them are known for their dangerous cunning and original abilities, which made them overpowered.

In the list below, we are going to rank anime villains who we think are the most op of all time.

Anime Villains Who Are Extremely Overpowered

10. Gilgamesh (Fate/Stay Night)

The Fate franchise, which originally started as a visual novel by Kinoko Nasu, has turned into a worldwide phenomenon. This is thanks to the Fate/Grand Order gacha game on mobile phones. It introduced a lot of historical figures and legendary characters.

Some of them have become iconic villainous characters in the franchise. But there is one character who is the most popular and OP villain by reputation out of them all. Gilgamesh from the original Fate/Stay Night.

His powers include an endless number of noble phantasmas locked behind the Gate of Babylon. He can summon thousands of swords at any point in time and wield them with accuracy. But his most dangerous attribute has to be his pride as the King of Heroes.

9. Blackbeard (One Piece)

One Piece is one of the biggest anime and manga properties in the present day and age. It is highly praised for having one of the best character writings and world designs ever. At times, it almost feels unreal as to how Eiichiro Oda, the manga artist, manages to do it.

One of these characters is Blackbeard, presently the main antagonist of the show. He is easily one of the most important anime villains of all time. This is because of all the atrocities he caused, including putting his selfish goals in front of the lives of others.

It led to a lot of important deaths in the franchise and earned Blackbeard the wrath of the fans. Blackbeard is also a very op anime villain because of his abilities. He has the power to manipulate gravity as well as control voids and create black holes.

8. Meruem (HunterxHunter)

While we all wait for the next Hunter x Hunter manga update, things are getting harder for the anime fans. This is because they have not seen a continuation of the show in ages, and nobody knows when it will happen.

But the anime has covered some of the best arcs of the series so far. This includes the Chimera Ant arc, which was also introduced as possibly the most op villain in HunterxHunter. Meruem is the Chimera Ant king who commanded some of the most powerful antagonists of the show.

He is definitely one of the strongest anime villains of all time. Beyond being absolutely cruel to life, he was able to go toe to toe against some of the strongest characters in the franchise. Especially the most powerful Nen user of all time, Isaac Netero.

7. Boros (One Punch Man)

Boros is not particularly an important villain compared to the rest of the amazing cast of characters on this list. This is mostly because he barely got to know the character before he had his final fight with Saitama.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, this is the One Punch Man franchise we are talking about. Most villains, no matter how big they are, get absolutely demolished by Saitama in a few hits.

Boros is definitely one of the most op villains of all time because of how long he has been able to endure Saitama’s punches. It would even suffice to say that we went toe-to-toe with the One Punch Man himself, and even made Saitama use a considerable amount of power.

6. Yhwach (Bleach)

There are a lot of iconic villains in the Bleach franchise, such as Aizen and Ulquiorra. But the most op villain in the whole show has to be Yhwach, the final antagonist of the franchise.

Goals that motivate Yahwach as a villain are not something unheard of in anime. He wants to merge the Human, Hueco Mundo, and Soul worlds into one, thus making death non-existent. This is the basis for the Whole Bleach saga called ‘Thousand-Year Blood War’.

He is one of the strongest and most overpowered anime villains of all time for the feats he can achieve. Being able to control and see through the future, as well as have control over the Quincys.

5. Madara Uchiha (Naruto)

Arguments can be made as to whether Madara Uchiha really is the strongest and most op villain in all of the Naruto franchise. There have been a lot of antagonists since the series went into a new era. Villains that are far more powerful and able to perform incredible feats.

But there is no doubt that the legacy of Madara Uchiha still upholds him as one of the greatest and most overpowered anime villains. Chronologically, he was one of the oldest villains in the franchise, going toe to toe in fights against the first Hokage.

Even after his revival using reanimations Jutusu, Madara was able to overpower the whole of the ninja world using his cunning skills. Multiple Hokages needed to be revived in order to fight against a reanimated Madara Uchiha. He is one of the most dangerous villains in all of Naruto history.

4. Sukuna (Jujutsu Kaisen)

Jujutsu Kaisen is the new kid on the block among all the popular shounen anime. It was created by artist Gege Akutami and is already a completed manga. The plot of the show follows a world where supernatural curses are common threats.

Powerful sorcerers are employed and educated to handle these threats. One of these curses happens to be the most op villains in all of anime. Sukuna, who was originally the most dreaded and powerful sorcerer, is now the most dangerous curse.

He manifests himself in the body of our protagonist, Yuji Itadori. In the show, we see him perform genocidal feats, wiping out entire cities. Only held back by the body and mind of the one he possessed.

A full-powered and freed Sukuna would definitely be the most dangerous thing one can deal with in any anime.

3. Golden Frieza (Dragon Ball)

We have talked about Dragon Ball countless times before. It is one of the most popular anime and manga franchises in history. It single-handedly popularized the medium outside Japan.

The franchise houses some of the most powerful cosmic threats we have ever seen in any anime. For most of the Dragon Ball villains, wiping out entire planets is like a walk in the park.

Frieza is no different, but then why would he be considered as one of the most op antagonists of all time, you might ask. Well, Frieza is a character who has the potential to easily surpass the main characters in power levels.

All it requires is to train himself, and he can achieve a new transformation that surpasses Goku or Vegeta. His only downfall has been his pride and ego. He would become a major threat far beyond anyone’s scope of control if he put his mind to it.

2. Enrico Pucci (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure)

You might be wondering why a Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure character is doing so far up in the ranks. None of the villains in this franchise are characters that can take on threats that can destroy worlds. But just the raw idea of strength and powerscaling is not the only op thing about villains.

Abstract powers that can alter realities are far more overpowered feats than everyone should be scared of. Such are the abilities of Enrico Pucci, the villain of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean.

His stand abilities allowed him to attain full control of people’s memories. But that is not really what makes him scary. Once his stand evolved into Made in Heaven, he gained the powers to accelerate time and reset the whole Jojo universe.

He is pretty much one of the scariest villains in all of anime, because the Jojo franchise timeline did reset after this.

1. Anti-spiral (Tengen Toppa Guren Lagann)

Tengen toppa Guren Lagann is a really fun mech action show that was created during the glory days of Gainax animation studio. Unfortunately, the studio disbanded, but most of the artists went on to form Studio Trigger.

This show is also known as the only mech anime with the largest mech in existence. We are talking about sizes that dwarf galaxies. That’s what the Super Tengen Toppa Guren Lagann mech is all about. It has dimension-piercing drill moves and abilities that challenge creation itself.

Obviously, something like that requires facing a villain that is extremely op beyond comprehension. This is what the Anti-Spiral is; an omnipotent entity with the ability to bend universes. It can create pocket dimensions and can endlessly regenerate.

We are dealing with the definition of the most overpowered entity of all time in any anime ever. So there’s no question why a godlike being such as the anti-spiral would take the first spot.
