There are a lot of overpowered as well as terrible Devil Fruits in One Piece anime, but incredible users are what make them special. Eiichiro Oda is a creative genius who can come up with ideas for Devil Fruit abilities out of just the most mundane things in existence.
Sometimes these can be hit or miss, and overall, end up getting shafted by overpowered users. In the list below, we will be taking a look at some of the incredible users of really terrible devil fruits.
Incredible Users of Terrible Devil Fruits in One Piece
Gomu Gomu No Mi (Monkey D Luffy)

Let’s kick things off with the main protagonist of the show. The devil fruit that Luffy ate as a child was called Gomu Gomu No Mi, which translates to Gum Gum Fruit. It gave him the ability to turn himself into a literal rubber man.
But in all honesty, having the powers of stretching limbs is not really an out-of-the-world feat. It is pretty terrible when compared to other Devil Fruit powers, such as the ability to create black holes.
However, what makes it useful is the users themselves. Monkey D Luffy is an incredible user of the Gomu Gomu No Mi. His sheer willpower to constantly evolve his abilities in creative ways is what keeps fans glued to their seat.
Woshu Woshu No Mi (Tsuru)

One of the oldest female characters in One Piece and a powerful Marine Vice Admiral. Tsuru is known by many as the great staff officer. Aside from her Marine rank, Tsuru is also one of the most knowledgeable characters in the show.
But she has a very terrible Devil Fruit ability when comparing it to other major Marine units’ powers. Tsuru is the user of Woshu Woshu No Mi, which translates to Wash Wash Fruit. It allows her to turn others into washable laundry and hang them out to dry.
A very absurd Devil Fruit ability makes you wonder how Eiichiro Oda even came up with this. But Tsuru herself is an excellent user of the Woshu Woshu No Mi. She can also use this ability to clean some of the evil out of a person’s heart.
Nagi Nagi No Mi (Corazon)

This one is going to be a bit of a spoiler, so we hope you have already come across this character in the show. If not, we would recommend watching the Dressrosa arc. But for the rest, Corazon is the codename for Donquixote Rosinante.
He was the youngest blood brother of Donquixote Doflamingo. The main antagonist of the Dressrosa arc and one of the Warlords of the Sea. But enough about him, let’s talk about Corazon and his powers.
Donquixote Roshinante weilds the powers of Nagi Nagi No Mi, which translates to Calm Calm Fruit. Practically, a very terrible and useless power to have in combat. But Corazon was someone who used this power carefully to confide secrets with him and certain people.
This gave him an edge over the circulation of information. This goes beyond the scope of just another character who fights others head-on.
Ito Ito No Mi (Doflamingo)

Now that we have talked about the younger brother, let’s get to the main antagonist of Dressrosa’s arc. Donquixote Doflamingo is one of the major warlords of the sea and the Captain of the Donquixote Pirates.
Discussing his origins would be a bit of spoiler territory, as we have done enough of that. So let’s talk about his Devil Fruit powers. Which is the Ito Ito No Mi, that gives him the powers to create and manipulate strings, and we know that sounds terrible.
But Doflamingo is an incredible powerhouse of an antagonist. He is someone who can utilize the fruit’s powers perfectly in fights. But even beyond that, he has an incredible understanding of the fruit’s powers. Enough to use it as a transport mechanic, and fly or walk and run above ground.
Bisu Bisu No Mi (Charlotte Cracker)

Charlotte Cracker is one of the family members in the Charlotte Family. He is the 15th child of Charlotte Linlin, also called Big Mom. One of the scariest of the Sea Emperors in One Piece. But enough about her, we are here to talk about Charlotte Cracker and his abilities.
He is the user of Bisu Bisu No Mi, which translates to Biscuit Biscuit Fruit. It allows him to control or turn into a literal biscuit man, which sounds absolutely terrible. But as discussed earlier, what makes the devil fruit’s abilities powerful is the users themselves.
This is also the case with Charlotte Cracker. He is able to utilize the fruit’s powers in ways that are almost able to take down the protagonist of the show.
Hito Hito No Mi (Chopper)

Chopper is one of the main characters in One Piece and a member of the Straw Hats pirate crew. But a lot of people actually forget that he is a devil fruit user and just assume him to be a normal anthropomorphic animal character.
He was a reindeer, and at a young age, he ate the Hito Hito No Mi. This gave him the powers to turn into a human-reindeer hybrid. Now, in practicality, this is a terrible fruit as it does not have its own merits. It only turns an animal into a human.
But Chopper was able to fully utilize the fruit’s powers and assimilate himself among humans. He was further able to experiment and develop ways to evolve beyond his regular human-reindeer form.
Tama Tama No Mi (Tamago)

Tamago is one of the support antagonists from Whole Cake Arc in One Piece. This is an important arc in the story because our protagonists find themselves in the land of an emperor. Tamago is one of the high-ranking knights in the Big Mom pirates’ crew.
His name literally translates to ‘egg’, but he has other names such as Viscount Hiyoko and Count Niwatori. This is when he transforms further, because he has eaten the Tama Tama No Mi. Which literally translates to Egg Egg Fruit.
At first glance, it sounds like a terrible Devil Fruit ability to have. It turns the user into an egg, which, if cracked open, it transforms the person into a stronger and harder version of themselves. The ability doesn’t have a major merit beyond turning the user into a chicken.
But at the hands of Tamago, who is a skilled knight, the extra defense is absolutely worth it. The devil fruit almost makes him invincible in battle. Because even defeating his strongest form reverts him back to his regular form, keeping an endless cycle.
Kame Kame No Mi (Pekoms)

No, this has nothing to do with Kame House or Dragon Ball. Kame Kame No Mi literally translates to Turtle Turtle Fruit. The user is Pekoms, one of the Minks and a part of the Big Mom Pirates crew. But then things happen in the story that change his character a lot.
Skipping over the spoilers, we want to talk a bit about Minks. They are a secluded race of human-animal hybrid beings. Not to be mixed with Chopper’s fruit abilities. The minks are mostly mammals and can outlive regular humans.
The Kame Kame No Mi allows Pekoms to transform into a literal turtle. Which would have been terrible if it were the powers of a bad user. But Pekoms is an important supporting crew under Big Mom.
He can use the turtle shell to actively defend and protect others or himself against incoming attacks. Making it a very useful defensive power used for protection.
Ushi Ushi No Mi (Kaku)

Kaku was one of the major members of CP9, an assassin group formed of people who are able to use Rokushiki techniques. He is one of the many antagonists in the Water 7 and Ennies Lobby arcs of One Piece.
At first glance, one might mistake the character for a regular background NPC. Because there is nothing much happening with him that would make him stand out. That’s what makes him such a good assassin.
Kaku ate the Ushi Ushi No Mi of a particular Giraffe model. It allows him to transform into a literal giraffe-human hybrid. It might sound like another terrible and useless fruit power, but Kaku is an incredible fighter. The giraffe transformations give him an extra edge in sword fights, almost like an evolution.
Fude Fude No Mi (Kanjuro)

Kanjuro is a character from the Wano arc. It is the first time we get introduced to a country in the universe of One Piece, which is very traditionally Japanese. Kanjuro appears in the style of a traditional Kabuki performer with face paint.
But as a character, he had an important role as the retainer for Kouzuki Oden. He is the user of Fude Fude No Mi, which literally means Brush Brush Fruit. It is not a good Devil Fruit ability to acquire if the user is not a creative or talented person.
The ability allows users to animate and bring to life whatever they draw. In the case of Kanjuro, we see that he is a terrible artist. But what makes him an incredible user of the ability is his creativity, which shines in the Wano arc.
