Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the long awaited culmination to the Light vs Dark saga was leaked before it’s launch on Tuesday, June 4.
Although it’s unclear how the DLC contents were leaked, Bungie had to shut down servers in order to control the fallout of the issue. However, by the time they nuked the servers, many players had already collected enough details about the campaign and the upcoming Raid.
This is really disappointing for the developers and the Destiny 2 community because the campaign is expected to address some of the major plot points that have been developing for many years at a stretch.
As for the Raid, the one in The Final Shape is probably the most high profile Destiny 2 Raid ever, but now that the information including major Raid mechanics have been leaked, players who don’t know about it will be at a major disadvantage.
Despite the information about the game being leaked, the community has rallied together and is trying to contain the fallout of the incident as much as possible.
Apart from Destiny 2: The Final Shape being leaked, there are rumors that Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has also been leaked on PlayStation, indicating that the error could stem from a Sony-related issue.
With the weekly TWAB incoming soon, it will be interesting to see how the developers react to the situation at hand, and how they try to salvage the situation at hand.
If you’re an avid Destiny 2 follower, and you’re enthusiastic about how the Light vs Darkness saga concludes, it’s important that you stay off social media as much as possible, and mute everything related to Destiny 2 and The Final Shape till launch.
