Runescape Dragonwilds is finally here, and is for the most part a solid game. The title is also surprisingly well optimized on PC, and scales down well to lower end PC hardware. As per its official PC system requirements, the game only needs 8 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GTX 1060.
This means that the game is quite capable of running on weaker hardware such as Valve’s handheld gaming PC, the Steam Deck. The best settings to achieve a solid 30 frames per second on the Deck will be listed below.
Best Runescape Dragonwilds settings for the Steam Deck

In-game settings
- Quality: Medium; Medium is plenty fine for a handheld
- Frame Rate Limit: 60; cap the game to 60 FPS and save battery life
- Resolution: 1280×800; Deck native resolution
- Upscaling Mode: AMD FSR; AMD’s FSR tech is the only option here
- Display Mode: Fullscreen, keep at this default value
- Sharpness: 4; user preference
- Frame Generation: Off; best to keep disabled to prevent additional latency
- VSync: Off; always keep disabled
- Sprint Mode (Gameplay): Off; user preference
Steam Deck specific settings
- Frame Rate Limit: 60
- TDP: 15 W
- Battery Drain: 25-20 W
It might be worthwhile trying to lower the TDP. Try somewhere between 10 to 15 Watts and see what works best. 12 Watts is likely the acceptable compromise.
With the presets above, expect to run the game at a smooth 30 frames per second on the Steam Deck. You can also choose to experiment and lower the settings further in order to achieve higher frame rates.
This might be useful for those who use the OLED Steam Deck – given that it comes equipped with a 90 Hz display.
Regardless of your preset, it is always recommended to leave frame generation off. Frame generation will not be helpful if you are running the game at 60 FPS or lower. If anything, it might introduce additional latency and ghosting.
Keep in mind that this is an early access Unreal Engine 5 game. As such, expect there to be some hiccups in performance.
