Leveling works a bit differently in Visions of Mana, when compared to some of the more traditional JRPGs. This is because completing missions and side quests does not offer you any XP.
You only get experience points by killing monsters and the amount of XP gained depends on how fast you were able to beat the enemy.
To have an easier time in the endgame you will want to level up your character as frequently as possible in Visions of Mana. Here is a guide on how you can gain XP fast.
How to level up fast in Visions of Mana
Here are some of the best ways to gain more XP in the game:
1) Meeting certain conditions during battle
You will gain bonus XP when you meet certain conditions during an encounter. These conditions include:
- Complete the encounter without taking any damage on your main character.
- Defeat all enemies within 10/20/30 seconds
- Defeat the enemy with Class Strike/Elemental Burst
Once you meet the conditions during an encounter, you will automatically gain a percentage increase on the amount of experience gained.
2) Find Lil’ Cactus
As you make your way through the narrative you will be able to find Lil’ Cactus all around the map. The creature is found in every region, and by the mid-game mark, you will be able to find him 20 times.
Once you find the Lil’ Cactus 20 times you will be receiving a permanent 50% bonus experience gain on all encounters. In the later chapters, you will get a chance to encounter Lil’ Cactus 30 times, which will then further double this bonus.
This is one of the best ways of leveling up especially if you are in the late game and have started to complete quests on Hard difficulty.
3) Use XP cookies and Valorflies
Curious Cookie and Miracle Cookie, when used will increase your experience earned from combat by 10% and 15% respectively. The effect lasts for 10 minutes and will stack with the Lil’ Cactus bonus.
So if you are out exploring, pop one of these and make your way through all the monsters maximizing the amount of XP that you get.
The effect of the cookies will also stack with Valorflies. These are pink-colored butterflies that you will find across the map. Using them will give a tremendous boost to XP gain for a short period of time.
However, unlike Fortuneflies, which are used to increase Lucre gain, Valorflies do not respawn at the same location where you found them. Their respawn points are random, which is why focusing on finding them is not a reliable method of increasing your XP farm.
4) Grind harder enemies in a zone
Another grind-heavy but reliable method of getting your characters more powerful will be to keep grinding strong enemies in an area. This is the best method to go for if you are finding it difficult to beat the boss of the area.
Spending some time killing Nemeses and other strong enemies in the region will give you an easier time earning XP and leveling your characters. Keep farming them till you are comfortable enough to go up against the boss.
