Deadlock’s Blackmore Academy is a nest for juvinile troublemakers

In Deadlock, there are various street gangs and undercover organizations who are participating in the ritual. And it almost makes it sound like the New York of this universe is extremely hostile to regular citizens.

While that may be true to a fair extent, ordinary life also thrives in the cursed apple, with institutions such as schools still operating at full capacity. And some students are bold enough to participate in the ritual.

No, we are not talking about Rem here. Deadlock has a cast of high schoolers involved in the summoning, and we have seen two of them so far, Apollo and Graves, both of whom belong to the Blackmore Academy, one of the most prominent high schools in all of Cursed Apple.

Blackmore Academy is a reputable school with a dress code

Since the game is still in its alpha stages, we don’t really know where the school is located, but classes are said to be temporarily suspended due to the ongoing ritual.

From Apollo and Graves’ design, we can see that the Academy is quite a reputable school, having its own uniform and dedicated colors. We can also spot the Blackmore Crest, but that’s all we get to see for now until later updates.

Historically, Blackmore is an academy that seeks talented and rich individuals. We get to know this through a conversation between Apollo and Rem, when the latter asks where he could find a jacket like the one they wear.

Graves and Apollo are mere lab partners

The relation between Graves and Apollo is only that of lab partners; the former does not really bother with what goes on in her classes and is absent most of the time. But through her conversation with Apollo, we get to learn that the Ixian does care about her whereabouts at the very least.

Besides all of that, Deadlock also features former students of Blackmore Academy. Both Mina and Pocket had significant history with the academy, including Mina getting kicked out of Jazebel’s by Infernus for trying to celebrate her 16th birthday.

Infernus also states that kicking out Blackmore Academy students for being underage is a regular occurrence at the bar. Now, if that sounds like a high school filled with kids who are way too pompous and entitled, then you are absolutely right.

Even someone like Krill attests to that by calling the academy “breeding grounds for Manhattan’s finest narcissists.” We hope to see more people with history from the Blackmore Academy in the future of Deadlock.
