The new League of Legends game mode, Brawl, is now live on and it plays out very differently from the other modes in the MOBA. Brawl comes with its own map based on Bandle City, and it features a fast-paced gameplay, where the goal is to reduce the enemy’s health to 0.
Both teams will start off with 250 Health, and you will chip at them by either killing enemy champions or by guiding minions into the portal, which is on their side of the map.
Brawl is the perfect mode for new players to pick up LoL, so if you are looking to make the most of it with your friends, then the guide below will help you out.
League of Legends Brawl explained

As mentioned, Brawl is a fast-paced game mode, where the goal is to chip the enemy’s HP bar to 0. Both teams will start at 250 health, and there are three ways by which you can deal damage to the pool:
- Killing an enemy champion will deal 5 damage to their pool.
- Guiding missions into the enemy portal deals 1 damage per minion.
- Killing minions also deals 1 damage to their HP.
Before you start a game of Brawl, you will first need to pick a champion that you want to play, along with the runes and the Summoner Spells to go with them.
Brawl vs ARAM: Feature similarities and differences
Brawl has a lot of features that are similar to ARAM. You start the game at level 3 with 1400 gold in your inventory. However, you will only be able to buy items, not consumables. There are no health pots to speak of in Brawl.
The map is not as long as the Howling Abyss; however, it is wider, and there are monsters alongside the map that give additional gold and some buffs when you take them down.
Apart from this, all champions will gain the Bandlewood Aura as soon as they start the game. This Aura will grant them the following benefits:
- +100 Summoner Spell Haste.
- Increased Mana Rengeneration.
- Recall is Empowered.
- Gain Experience Passively.
- Gain Gold Passively.
- Nearby Enemy Minion & Monster Deaths Share Gold.
- AoE Damage Dealt to Minions is 75% Effective.
How to win more matches in League of Legends Brawl: Tips and Tricks
Here are a few tips and tricks that will help you secure more wins in League of Legends Brawls:
- Pick a champion that scales early, has good resets, and is capable of clearing waves fast.
- Unlike ARAM, giving away kills early will hurt you in the end. So do not end up dying for no good reason.
- Always keep track of the HP bars. You will want to optimize a strategy based on the HP difference between you and the enemy.
- Try squeezing in monster kills in between skirmishes. Taking on monsters as a team will allow you to share the gold with them.
- Pushing your minions as well as killing enemy minions is as important as killing enemy champions. So clear the enemy wave as soon as possible.
- Unlike in ARAM, you can always recall and spend your Gold in Brawl. So, after every skirmish, make sure to head back to your fountain and invest in your next big powerspike.

How to pick the right champion for League of Legends Brawl?
While all champions can sort of work in Brawl, there are some picks that will have a much easier time securing wins in this game mode than the rest. Here are the types of champions that do exceedingly well in Brawl:
- As you are going to have a nonstop 5v5 skirmish, champions that have good AoE potential work really well.
- Champions that have a good wave clear are also great, as they will wipe out the entire enemy minion wave, thereby securing points for your team and denying their minions from going through your Portal.
- Pick champions that scale early. Brawl matches do not last long, and you will rarely get past a third item. So, pick a champion that has high power spikes on items one and two.
- Champions with a lot of sustain and CC also do very well in Brawl. They will help make things difficult for the enemy to get kills on you.
- Finally, do not pick champions that have more 1v1 potential and are primarily used to take structures in the side lanes. As there are no towers in Brawl, avoid picks that are only good in 1v1 skirmishes.
10 best champions for Brawl in League of Legends
Here is a list of champions who are currently being considered as one of the best picks in LoL Brawl:
1) Jinx

Jinx, being one of the best champions for Brawl, is a no-brainer. She has a decent 2-3 item powerspike, and her “Get Excited!” passive allows her to take over an entire fight. Her resets are incredibly potent if you can position her correctly. Moreover, she has good waveclear and has a good bit of CC with her Flame Chompers.
With her Rockets, she has good AoE, and it will be hard to deal with her if you do not have enough CC in your team to lock her down.
2) Lulu

Lulu comes with a ton of CC in her kit. She is extremely useful against champions that rely on a lot of resets. So in Brawl, she will be able to use Polymorph to counter picks like Zed, Katarina, Naafiri, master Yi, and more.
Moreover, her Wild Growth will help the carry on your team stay alive to dish out damage. So if you have a Jinx in your team, pairing her up with a Lulu is going to help out quite a bit.
3) Swain

Swain is currently a very strong pick in Brawl. He comes with CC, a ton of sustain, and a surprising amount of damage. You build a lot of tank AP items on him, which complement his Demoic Ascension, and once he gets going with his passive, he can be very hard to stop.
He gets very annoying to deal with the longer the game goes, and he complements most team compositions. His root can make things difficult for carries, and he is capable of out-surviving every champion in teamfights.
4) Ziggs

Ziggs has one of the best AoE potentials and waveclear in League of Legends. You can build a burst mage on him with Ludens, or go for a more DoT effect with Blackfire Torch and Liandry’s. He has a fair bit of build versatility, and it will be quite difficult to push in minions with him around in the enemy team.
Ziggs also has a good bit of CC. His Scatchel Charge can knock enemies out of position and even make it so that assassins like Zed and Master Yi do not stick to and burst him down.
Ziggs can very easily help you win the “Minion Game” in Brawl if that is the sort of strategy that you are going for.
5) Darius

Once he gets going, Darius can mow down a group of champions in seconds. He is a Bruiser who will make the most of his resets in a game like Brawl. The strategy with Darius is simple: build some tanky AD items, spin to apply bleed stats, then exploit the bleed stacks with Noxian Guillotine. If you get a kill on a champion, put all the stacks on the next one, execute them, then rinse and repeat the process.
Darius is one of the easiest champions to pilot in Brawl. As groups of enemies will stay clustered together anyway, you will be able to pull them all in with Apprehend and then stack Hemorrhage on all of them at once.
6) Pyke

While Pyke does not have much utility in terms of minion management, what he does bring to the table is an insane amount of pick potential, some good CC, and execution damage. With his Death From Below resets, Pyke has one of the best ways of securing Pentakills in Brawl.
He can recover health after going out of vision, and he will be able to stun the entire enemy team with Phantom Undertow, making it considerably easier for the rest of the team to follow up. He can also pull assassins away from the carries with Bone Skewer, however, he can be a bit hard to execute if you are not able to land your skillshots properly.
7) Ahri

Ahri is another amazing champion that you can pick for LoL Brawl. She has great skirmishing potential, AoE damage, resets on her ult, as well as CC on her charm. She is good at clearing out minion waves as well, and once she gets going, she will be very hard to pin down if you do not have enough point-and-click CC in your team.
Ahri has a good 2-item spike as well, and she is pretty easy to pilot, and she can fit into most team compositions. Just position well with her and head back to base often to buy her items.
8) Naafiri

Naafiri is one of the best assassin picks in League of Legends Brawl. She has an incredible amount of single-target burst, an ability to go invulnerable, and resets on her ultimate. She can get onto most carries in this game mode, making it much easier for her team to chip away at the enemy’s HP bar.
As Naafiri has a very skirmish-heavy playstyle, the mode’s fast-paced combat complements her kit. As she can snowball off just as few kills, you will be able to take over the game after getting a few items under your belt.
9) Master Yi

Master Yi is another very hard champion to pin down once he gets going in Brawl. Kills and assists will help reset his Alpha Strike, and he can keep going invulnerable by using this ability in fights. He also gets movement speed extension with Highlander, allowing him to have a much easier time sticking to the enemy’s carries.
Master Yi also has a nice 2-3 item powerspike and can clear minion waves very effectively as well. He is also great at taking the monster camps around the maps, so you will be able to use him to gain some additional gold and buffs in Brawl.
10) Blitzcrank

Blitzcrank can either make Brawl matches very easy or very hard for you. With the right Rocket Grabs, he will be able to get his hands on an enemy carry, letting the rest of your team dogpile on them and bursting them down. Moreover, if you are going AP with Blitz, his Static Field can do a ton of damage. It has a very small cooldown, and he will be able to abuse it to do a ton of DPS to all enemy champions.
Power Fist can also disrupt assassins, often forcing them to miss out on resets. So, when played right, Blitzcrank will make most Brawl games very easy to win.
