There are a plethora of Side Missions that you will be able to come across during your time in Pokemon Legends Z-A. These missions are optional quests that will offer you rewards after completion, and these rewards range from simple items to getting your hands on a rare Pokemon.

Here is a list of all the side quests in Pokemon Legends Z-A, along with their rewards, objectives, and how to complete them
1) A Big Ol’ Bunnelby

The quest is given by Trevelle in Rogue Plaza. Once you accept it, the NPC will run to an alleyway in the northeast part of Rouge District, which is to the east of Wild Zone. If you are having trouble locating the PoI for this quest, then try activating guidance for it by pressing the (+) button once you accept the quest.
Once you reach the location, talk to Trevelle again and find the big Bunnelby. Your objective will be to fight this Pokemon, and it’s recommended that you use Fighting-type Pokemon or moves against it to have an easier time.
You will be able to catch the Alpha Bunnelby in a Poké Ball once you take its HP down low enough.
2) A Use for an Evolution Stone

The best way to complete the quest will be to make your way to Wild Zone 3 Rogue Plaza. This is the closest place where you will find a Pikachu. So if you don’t have one for the trade, simply catch one.
However, if you already have a Pikachu, skip this step and head directly to Tracie in Passage du Palai. Interact with the NPC, and then pick any of your Pikachu from your inventory to make the trade.
Tracie will give you Heracross in exchange. Moreover, once the trade goes through, you will see that the Pikachu you gave turns into a Raichu; however, as it’s a trade, you will not be able to get that Pokemon back.
3) Sableye in the Cemetery

Sableye in the Cemetery is one of the three side missions that you will need to complete in main mission 5, The City in the Shadow of Prism Town. However, to make the quest available, you will need to talk to Emaa at the Looker Bureau and then activate the mission by talking to Moire, who can be located in Rogue Street near Wild Zone 4.
Once the quest is active, head over to Dormez Bien Cemetery in Wild Zone 4. You will need to enter the area to find Sableye. As it’s a Ghost-type Pokemon with Normal and Fighting attributes, make sure to get a Fairy-type to counter it.
You will find Sableye in the northeast area of Wild Zone 4. Along the way, you will find a lot of Pokemon that are Ghost, Dark, and Poison-type.
You will be able to capture this Sableye after taking its health down low. Once you beat or capture it, you will get the Cherished Ring, which you bring back to Moire to round out the quest.
4) A Break Time Battle

Break Time Battle unlocks after you progress the main story to main Mission 06 by reaching Rank X. You will now have access to a lot of new side quests, with the Break Time battle being one of them. You can start this mission by talking to Sommi, who’s standing beside a deactivated Holovator just west of Wild Zone 3
Now, to complete the quest, you will need to defeat Sommi in a Pokemon battle. He will use a team consisting of the following:
- Pidgey
- Emolga
- Budew
His team will be around levels 8-10, so if you are progressing your Pokemon properly, you won’t have much trouble taking him down. Once you beat Sommi, you will be able to unlock the Holovator beside him and gain access to a new rooftop area, which will have new Pokemon and items.
5) I’d Like to See an Ekans!

This side quest is made available after you complete mission 5. You will be able to accept this mission after talking to Ismene, who is found in Magenta Sector 1. Just head to the southeast of the Magenta Plaza Pokemon Center.
To be able to complete the quest, all you will need to do is have an Ekans in your party and then present it to Ismene. If you do not have an Ekans, head over to Wild Zone 4, where you are guaranteed to see this Pokemon spawn, irrespective of the time of day.
6) Long-Range Moves Have Style

The quest is available after you reach Main Mission 6. You will then start the mission by talking to Distan, who’s located in a battle court west of Bleu Plaza and southwest of Wild Zone 5
The goal will be to take him on in a Poke Battle and then beat him. He will use a combination of Fire-Water-Grass trio with Binacle, Fletchling, and Skiddo. They are all at level 16, and the best way to counter them will be to have a good Electric and Rock-type Pokemon. You can also use the Heracross that you receive in “A Use for an Evolution Stone” mission to make this much easier.
7) A Feisty Chespin

This side quest in Pokemon Legends Z-A unlocks after you complete Main Mission 5. You will be able to activate it by talking to Axi, who can be located in Academie Etolie near a taxi. Once the quest is active, you will get the option to interact with the feisty Chespin who is blocking the road.
After interacting with the Pokemon, you will need to defeat it three times in battle. Once you succeed, you will be able to add Chespin to your team. It’s one of the side missions that will allow you to get your hands on all three of the Kalos Starters in Legends Z-A. It will also pave the way for letting you get your hands on a Mega Chesnaught.
8) Get Well, Fennekin

The quest unlocks as you reach Rank X and get to Main Mission 6. You will then be able to activate it by talking to Branche in the Magenta District, in a small park behind the building to the left of Prism Tower.
Once the quest is active, head to Café Classe on Vernal Avenue and look for the herbalist there. The NPC will then ask you to get your hands on a Revitalizing Twig. You will be able to get the item in Wild Zone 5 in a hidden area on the other side of a sewer pipe.
So just head north of the zone to find a building with muck obstructing your way. Clear the path with a Psychic or Water-type Pokemon to head into the sewers, then head below to reach a pipe and keep clearing all the muck along the way.
Once you reach the depths, you will eventually find a section where there is a lot of Revitalizing Twig. You will need to find the one that is not damaged and is in perfect condition/
Be wary of the Alpha Whirlipede in the area. You can either take it down or ignore it. However, once you find the right twig, a short cutscene will play. Once it’s done, head back to Branche, and once he feeds the Pokemon, the Fennekin will join your team. This is the second Kalos Starter that you get.
9) A Challenge from Froakie

The mission unlocks after you complete Main Mission 5, and you can activate it by talking to Surv in Juane Sector 8. The mission will have you clear three scaffolding courses within a given time frame.

Once you have completed all three successfully, Surv will give you some rewards, and Froakie will join your team. It will be the third and final Kalos Starter to join you.
10) Skiddo’s Fragrant Leaves

The Skiddo’s Fragrant Leaves side quest unlocks after you have reached Main Mission 7 in Pokemon Legends Z-A. After beating Naveen and unlocking free roam in Lumiose City, this will be one of the missions that unlock.
To start the quest, you will need to talk to Odette, who can be found near the boutiques around the southern area of Lumiose City, just down the street from the Vernal Pokemon Center.
To round out the quest, all you will need to do is have a Skiddo in your party and then just present it to Odette.
If you do not have a Skiddo, you will be able to catch one in Wild Zone 3. The Pokemon is guaranteed to spawn there irrespective of the time of day.
11) The Kakuna Master

Reach Main Mission 7 and unlock Rank W to be able to access this quest. The Kakuna Master can then be accepted from Montee at the park in Jaune Sector 1.
To complete this quest, you will need to beat Montee in a battle, and she will have 3 Kakunas between level 8-9, along with a Beedrill at level 11. This encounter will be very easy if you had chosen Tepig as your starter. Another great alternative will be a Fletchinder or Fletching. The Bird-Fire-Type can be found in Wild Zone 1, and will be able to one-shot the Kakunas and Beedrill.
12) The Many Flowers of Flabebe

This quest is accepted from Vivace after you reach Main Mission 7. The NPC is located in the southwestern area of Lumiose City in the Blue District. You will find her right outside the salon and will ask you to get your hands on all five Flabebe types (based on their color):

| White Flabebe | You will be able to locate White Flabebe around Vert Sector 3. Their spawn rate is low as well, and you will need to keep resetting the area to get them to spawn. |
13) Stumped at the Fountain

You will be able to accept the quest from Croquis after reaching Main Mission 7 and then speaking to the NPC in Jaune Sector 7. You will need to have a Fire-type Pokemon with Fire moves to complete the mission, as you will need their attacks to burn the bramble away. If you do not have a Fire-type Pokemon you can always catch a Litleo in Wild Zone 3.
14) Slurpuff’s Cafe Visit

You get this quest once you reach Mission 7 and Rank W. To accept the mission, head to Cafe Shutterbug and talk to Meuse, who can be found by the cafe’s entrance. Once you speak to Meuse, head to Cafe Soleil and talk to the employee out front.
You will find the cafe to the south of Cafe Shutterbug. You will see the Slurpuff will run ahead of it, so just follow the Pokemon to the destination.
15) A Sensitive Audino

You get this quest once you reach Mission 7 and Rank W. Start it by talking to Hea in Rogue Sector 1. You talk to her again to initiate the battle and take on Audino. Beat the Pokemon to round out the quest.
16) The Budew Show

The quest unlocks after you reach Main Mission 7 and Rank W. Accept it by talking to Jardin in the Veneral Pokemon Center. This will trigger automatically as soon as you walk in, and the NPC will then move to the fountain in Blue Sector 8 afterward.
To be able to complete this quest, you will need to have a Budew in your party that can be caught from Wild Zone 2. Their spawn rate in the area is pretty high, irrespective of the time of day. Apart from a Budew, you will need an entry fee of 5,800, but don’t worry much about the money as you will receive a reward of 10,000 Poke Dollars for completing the quest.
Once you have a Budew in your party along with the entry fee, complete the quest by taking part in the showcase after talking to Jardin.
17) A Shiny Mareep?

This quest is made available once you reach Main Mission 8 and a trainer rank of V. To start the quest, you will need to talk to Duve, who’s located just outside the northern entrance to Wild Zone 1.
The goal will be to spot the Shiny Mareep and to do that, fast travel to Wild Zone 1 and then make your way north. Head to the area on the right by keeping the gate in front, and you will find a large mond there along with a boulder.
You will find the first ladder there. Climb it and then keep using a Pokemon with Rocksmash to keep clearing the path ahead.
Once in the area, keep climbing the ladder up and then go over to the roof to climb another ladder on the right. You will eventually reach a rooftop with the Shiny Mareep on it. This is a guaranteed Shiny Pokemon encounter in Legends Z-A.
Note: In case you have accidentally beaten the Shiny Mareep instead of catching it, you can force it to respawn by fast-traveling back to the area.
18) A Pan-tastic Pot of Tea

This quest is made available once you reach Main Mission 8 and a trainer rank of V. To start the quest, you will need to talk to Servando, who’s found just outside of Cafe Cyclone in Vert Sector 3, which is near Wild Area 3.
The goal will be to have Pansage, Pansear, and Panpour in your team and present them to Servando. You will be able to find these Pokemon in various trees throughout Lumiose City. So keep checking them out as you make your way through the game.
19) Poisonous, Paralyzing Strategies

The goal will be to challenge them both in battle and beat Lyse’s Electrike and a Budew, while Venin will send out Venipede and a Bellsprout. You can use Cheri and Pecha berries before the battle to gain shock and poison immunity on your Pokemon.
20) A Berry Clever Plan

This quest will unlock after you reach Main Mission 8 and trainer rank V. Activate the mission by talking to Ticien, who can be found in Jaune Sector 12. Once accepted, speak to Ticien again to initiate a battle. He will use a Swablu and a Meditite, which are both holding an Oran Berry each. So make sure to use Pokemon with a type advantage to beat them.
21) Spewpa in the Museum

Once you find all 12 of the Spewpa, you will be able to round out the quest.
22) A Call from Mable: Which Kanto Starter Should You Pick?

This quest unlocks after you get past Lida during Main Mission 8 and then rest at any Pokemon Center. This quest is automatically accepted, and you will need to go to the Pokemon Research Lab in the south of the city. Now head to Mable’s office and pick a Kanto starter of your choice.
What you pick will depend on what you like to be honest, and the type of variety you want in your party. But it’s important to mention here that Charmander is a standout, as Charizard has 2 different Mega forms.
Moreover, Charizard and Blastoise’s Mega Stones can be bought at the Stone Emporium. However, Venusaur’s Mega Stone is obtained after beating the Rogue Mega Venusaur. So you will get the transformation much later, and you shouldn’t pick Bulbasaur if you want to use its Mega right away.
23) Underneath the Holovator

You will unlock this mission after you reach Main Mission 10 and have defeated your rival. To accept it, you will need to talk to Terra, who is located by the Holovator in Vert Sector 9.
To complete this quest, you will need to interact with the hole and defeat the Diggersby that pops out; it will be a Level 28 Normal Ground-type. So make sure to use a type counter to make the battle easier, and you can catch the Diggersby if its health is low.
24) An Abra Playmate

This quest unlocks after you reach Main Mission 10. You will start this quest by talking to Bond, who can be found in Academie Etoile. Once you get the quest, you will need to climb to the roof of the building, which is to the east of Wild Zone 1. Here, you will catch an Abra after climbing the ladders and breaking through the rocks to clear the path.
If you already have an Abra in your roster, trade it with Bond, and you will get a Riolu in return, rounding out the quest. So if you want to get a Lucario in your party, you will want to complete this quest.
25) Trubblesome Patrons

This side mission in Pokemon Legends Z-A is unlocked after you have reached Main Mission 9. To start the quest talk to Fumi, who can be found in Magenta Sector 4. Once the quest starts, Fumi will give you a bag of Tasty Trash.
You will then need to use it to lure the Trubbish away to the trash cans, which are down the street to the southwest of Cafe Pokemon-Amie. Once you find the Trash Cans, interact with them, and you will be able to place the Tasty Trash there to round out the quest.
26) Burn, Litleo, Burn

This quest unlocks after you beat your rival in Main Mission 10. Start the mission by talking to Armie, who’s located just outside of Restaurant Le Yeah. Your goal will be to beat Armie’s line-up of Pokemon containing Litleo, Lumel, and Houndoom. Water and Ground-type Pokemon will be very efficient for this mission.

This main mission is unlocked after you have completed Main Mission 10, and then Missions 11, 12, and 13. You can start this quest by talking to Reg, who can be found in Pokemon Research Lab in the southern part of the map.
Once the quest is live, you will need to pick a Fossil to give to Reg. There are two options:
Tyrunt is a Rock and Dragon-Type, while Amaura is a Rock and Ice-Type. So pick one and give it to Reg for revival, and you will be able to add them to your party.
Fortunately, picking one does not mean you are locked out of getting the other. Once the quest is complete, you can always buy the other egg for 10,000 Poke Dollars. The Stone Emporium has a lot of other Fossils that you can buy, including the Old Amber, which will let you get an Aerodactyl.
28) Who Says Normal Is Weak?

This mission is made available after you have unlocked Main Mission 11, 12, and 13. To start the mission, talk to Marnole, who can be found in Bleu Sector 7. Talk to him again to initiate the battle, and you will need to take on his Audino, Watchog, and Lopunny. Beat all three to round out the quest.
29) Full Course of Battles: One Star

This mission is made available after you have unlocked Main Mission 11, 12, and 13. To start the quest, talk to Rintaro, who can be found inside Restaurant Le Nah in Vert Sector 6. The goal is to go up against three consecutive trainers, and you cannot heal your Pokemon during the fights.
Make sure to bring a variety of different types to your party. Here are the trainers that you will face:

30) Show Me a Mega Camerupt!

This is unlocked after you have reached Main Mission 14 and Trainer Rank E. To start the mission, you will need to talk to Arden, who’s found just south of the Vernal Pokemon Center. The goal will be to fight against Arden with a Mega Camerupt.
If you don’t have one, you can catch a Numel in Wild Zone 8 and then evolve it to a Camerupt at level 33. To make it a mega, you will need to give it a Cameruptite that you can get from defeating the Rogue Mega Camerupt. Once you fight and beat Arden with a Mega Camerupt, you will be able to round out the quest.
31) Show Me a Mega Sableye!

This is Arden’s next quest after you complete “Show Me a Mega Camerupt!”. This time, you will need to fight the NPC with a Mega Sableye. If you have not caught a Sableye during the “Sableye in the Cemetary” quest, you will be able to catch one in Wild Zone 9.
After that, you will need to purchase a Sablenite at Quasartico Inc. for 180 Mega Shards, and you can get there by heading northeast from the Magenta Pokemon Center.
Finally, fight Arden with the Mega Sableye to round out the quest.
32) Show Me a Mega Medicham!

This is Arden’s third quest, where you will need to fight him with a Mega Medicham. If you don’t have a Medicham, you can get one by heading to Wild Zone 6 and catching a Meditite there. You can then evolve the Pokemon to a Medicham at level 37.
After that, to make it Mega, you will need a Medichamite, which you can obtain from the Stone Emporium, which is located near Arden, for ₽50,000.
33) Who Has the Bigger Magikarp?

You will unlock this quest once you reach Main Mission 14 and Trainer Rank E. You can then start the mission by talking to Kingsley, who can be found in Vert Sector 4.
Now, to complete it, you will need to catch an Alpha Magikarp. You can get one in Wild Zone 2 during the day or Wild Zone 6 at night. Once you have an Alpha Magikarp, show it to Kingsley to round out the quest.
34) Moves That Put Up a Wall

You will unlock this quest once you reach Main Mission 14 and Trainer Rank E. You will be able to start the mission by talking to Muro, who’s found in Jaune Sector 8 in a corner near the battle court.
He will fight you with a Kadabra and a Vivilio, both having Reflect and Light Screen that maximize their defense. Your goal is to use a Pokemon with Brick Break and is not a Fighting-type. Heracross is a good option for this, along with Krokorok.
35) Guidance from a Yoga Master

This quest is unlocked after you progress through Main Mission 14 and have beaten Naveen. You accept the quest by talking to Paix, who can be found in Jaune Sector 1. Your goal will be to find a Yoga Master at the “spot closest to heaven in the one circle among five that points to 12:00.”
You will be able to find the Yoga Master on the roof of the building in Wild Zone 3.
36) Some Friendly Competition

You will unlock this quest after you progress through Main Mission 14, where the Canari Quiz Whiz Contest is unlocked. To accept it, talk to Chou, who’s found sitting at Cafe Rouleau with her Pokemon.
The goal is to defeat Chou’s Clefairy and Loppuny. It’s not that difficult to pull off as long as you have a type or skills that counter them.
