Violet in Deadlock is pretty ambitious when it comes to having her skills be recognized. And that’s primarily the reason why she is taking part in Deadlock’s Summoning Ritual. Her motivation is to have her works be seen by the world, so she does not want to wish for fame directly, but to have her skills speak for themselves and be judged on their own merits.
The painter is a Chinese immigrant who had made her way to New York at the age of 12. And while there was a fair bit of cultural shock at first, she soon fell in love with the vibrancy of the city.
She then started her studies in art, and Violet was a prodigal talent with a brush, with her passion helping her be more successful than most of her peers. But she always felt like she was not living up to her potential, and often suffered from the existential dread of dying a failure.
Violet lives away from her parents
So this is why she is fighting on the streets of the Cursed Apple, not to embellish on her own talent but to get a chance to show the world what she is capable of.
Violet is currently a junior student at the Jamie West art school which she attends with a full-ride scholarship. However, she is currently skipping her lessons to take part in the Ritual.
Her family lives in New York as well, but she has not spoken to them in years. She says that her parents are disappointed in her, but she doesn’t go over the details as to why. This is also the reason why she has been in therapy for a while.
To add to her troubles. Violet is not yet a U.S. citizen. She hopes to get a green card one day and be well off to not constantly struggle to pay her rent.
Violet does not like drawing Drifter
Violet likes painting most of the Deadlock roster, with the exception of Drifter. She especially likes to draw Celeste, Victor, and Ava.
She suffers from substance abuse as well, and while she is wary about violating the law, she can’t help but over indulge in drugs and alcohol.
Violet has issues with authority and she can often be found participating in rallying protests against Fairfax Industries as well as the Friends of Humanity.
Few fun facts about Violet is that, she and Billy are friends. They have attended a lot of protest rallies together and she often approves of Billy’s lawbreaking activities. Billy even invites Violet to grab a beer after the Ritual, and he promises not to treat her like he does Vyper.
