In One Piece it doesn’t matter if the devil fruit is overpowered, or if the users are terrible. These fruits are some of the best tools introduced in shounen anime to enforce powers. It’s what makes One Piece so interesting.
You will never know what’s the next interesting devil fruit powered character that Eiichiro Oda will come up with. But these abilities are limited by their crazy users. So in the list below we take a look at some of the overpowered One Piece devil fruits that have terrible users.
Terrible Devil Fruit Users With Overpowered Abilities
Poke Poke No Mi (Blamenco)

Starting things off with a side character who was part of a very important crew to the story of anime. Blamenco the Mallet was the 6th Division commander of the White Beard pirates. He ate the Poke Poke No Mi fruit which allows him to have unlimited storage pockets on his body.
Even though the character himself was one of the most loyal members in White Beard’s crew. He might have one of the most overpowered devil fruit powers in the show. Having unlimited pockets to store items is very creative, but also a terrible idea.
In real fights the devil fruit might be of use for storing some really powerful weapons. But that does not in any way hold a candle to the other really powerful and more useful devil fruit powers.
Baku Baku No Mi (Wapol)

Wapol was the king of Drum Island, until he was chased away by the Blackbeard Pirates. He then began his own improvised pirate crew, which ultimately crossed paths with the Strawhat pirates. But unfortunately for him, he is not the protagonist of the show.
Wapol is an overweight pirate, but there is a reason for that, which is his overpowered abilities from the Baku Baku No Mi. It allows him to eat and consume any kind of material around him and then utilize it as a power.
But in real combat scenario this is a really terrible devil fruit power. Wapol is at the mercy of his surroundings. Wapol is also easily carried away by his own gluttony as he will keep eating whenever he pleases.
Mato Mato No Mi (Vander Decken IX)

Vander Decken IX is a forgettable little character in the One Piece anime. A descendant of the great Vander Decken and the captain of the Flying pirate crew. There is nothing particularly interesting about him other than the fact that he appears in the fishman island arc.
What made him stand out for us to include in this list is his devil fruit powers. Vander Decken IX has the ability of the Mato Mato No Mi which translates to Mark Mark Fruit. This is an overpowered combat ability as it allows the user to hit their target regardless of aim accuracy.
But there is one down side to it, the user has to touch the target before hand in order for the ability to work. Which in hindsight makes it a terrible devil fruit ability.
Guru Guru No Mi (Buffalo)

Buffalo is one of the important members of the Donquixote Pirates, which is run by Donquixote Doflamingo. He is one of the seven warlords from One Piece, but enough about him we are here to talk about Buffalo and his powers.
At a glance Buffalo may look like one of the funniest and most terrible looking designs. But he is a devil fruit user, only that we are not sure if it can be called overpowered. The Guru Guru No Mi fruit allows the character to use its body as an aviation transport.
While that may sound useful for carrying others and being a good team player. Buffalo can’t really effectively utilize the ability as a fighter on his own, compared to all the other devil fruit users.
Oto Oto No Mi (Apoo)

Apoo was introduced in the show as one of the most important characters from the worst generation. Which included names like our protagonist of One Piece, Mokey D. Luffy and other such as Trafalgar D. Law.
He is a character belonging to the long arm tribe and was a valuable informant for the Kaidou pirates in the show. This made him one of the recognized supporting villains. Apoo is also a devil fruit user and his abilities may sound overpowered on paper, but they are very dealable.
Apoo is weilds the power of Oto Oto No Mi which allows him to use any part of his body as a musical instrument. Thus causing destructive musical notes that can cause harm to other. But the simplest way to deal with it is just to not hear the music, making it a terrible ability.
Fuku Fuku No Mi (Kinemon)

Kinemon is a major supporting character from the country of Wano in the universe of One Piece. His history is a bit shrouded in mystery and discussing that would be a story for another time.
This is the first time that Eiichiro Oda tried fully exploring an Edo era Japanese country in One Piece. So seeing Kinemon for the first time feels very out of place for a lot fans of the show. But let’s talk about his interesting devil fruit power which is the Fuku Fuku No Mi.
It allows him to create any kind of garment and help disguise one selves. But outside of that, the ability isn’t really overpowered. Sure one can create sturdy combat specific garbs in actual fight. But that’s hardly a defense against some of the other powerful devil fruit abilities out there.
Jake Jake No Mi (Kelly Funk)

We have seen all kinds of countries and cultures existing in the world of One Piece at the same time. Kelly Funk is another such example of a character, a skilled boxer from the bygone era or street gangs.
He is the brother of Bobby Funk, and together they make up the top assassins for the Mogaro Kingdom. Kelly Funk has an interesting devil fruit ability which he got from eating the Jake Jake No Mi.
The name also translates to Jacket Jacket Fruit, which as you can guess already is an ability that allows users to become a jacket. Now, as overpowere the ability may seem in the right hands. It is also a terrible ability on it’s own, the user is completely dependent on the person who wears the jacket.
Kage Kage No Mi (Gecko Moria)

One of the major warlords of the sea and a pirate with ability that allows him to create massive armies. Gecko Moria is someone who looks and sounds incredibly intimidating when fans of the show are first introduced to him.
He ate the Kage Kage No Mi which translates to Shadow Shadow fruits. This allows him to control the shadows of other people and even manipulate it to animate the dead. In a way this all sounds like an overpowered ability.
But the power of devil fruit is only limited by it’s user. Gecko Moria by himself is a very subpar pirate, and can be easily overthrown by most of the major characters. He relies on his army of shadows to do his bidding, as he himself is a terrible fighter.
Kilo Kilo no Mi (Mikita)

Mikita is a One Piece character who appears pretty early in the show. She is better known by her agent name, Ms. Valentine. Partnered with another agent, Mr. 5, she was a part of the Baroque Works.
At first glance she might not look like an intimidating character. The way she presents herself makes her look like she would be a terrible fighter. But she is also a devil fruit user and it’s ability surprises everyone the first time.
Kilo Kilo No Mi allows users to have full control over their body weight and exaggerate it up to 10,000 kilograms. It is practically an overpowered ability if used right. But Mikita herself is a terrible user of the ability as she keeps underestimating her opponents.
Hira Hira no Mi (Diamante)

Another top member in the Donquixote pirate crew, Diamante is the leader of a sub army named after himself. We first get to see him in Dressrosa arc and we immediately notice that he has a comic relief personality.
Diamante is someone who likes hearing flattering remarks about him. But he only stops to accept it after someone stops complimenting. It might also be something which makes him loose edge during fights.
His devil fruit power is fairly overpowering. It allows him to touch and turn any object of his liking into a flat and flexible object, including himself. But Hira Hira No Mi is practically terrible in a fight against most of the cast. Diamante’s personality makes the usage further worse.
